been told that you only get out of life

Whether they visit an empty classroom or the li-
brarytocatchuponworkortheyjusthangoutwith

^ good friends on the grassy lawn of the campus,
studentscertainlygivelifehereawholenewmean-
itig. Bythetimetheygraduate, moststudentswill
haveamyriadofmemoriesaboutthelifetheymade
in Chestertown and these stories can range from
nightsatNewt'stoexamsinDr.Gillen'sHistoryof
English Literature class.
Today,fewercollegesthaneverqualifyasLiber-
alArtsandSciencesschools.WashingtonCollege
isoneofthatselectfew.Distributionandthehostof
otherrequirementsforstudentshereletusexper-
iencealittlebitmoreo—flifethantheconfin—esofour
previousexperience orChestertown would
normallyallow.ThisLiberalArtsandSciencetradi-
tionisoneofthemanywaysthattheCollegehelps
us to makethe most out of life.

Money.Weallneeditandnoonehas
it. Of course, it's fun to spend "just a
little" cash on posters, clothes, music,
food,whatever.Butitalladdsup,tothe
infamous bookstore bill, for example. Sometimes
you just NEED another sweater or the new B52's

tape/CD. Sometimes Miss D.'s calls you from
acrossthecampustowardsthenewconvenienceof
charging those excess calories. And a couple
buckshereandtherehastogotocoverchargesfor
dancesandparties.Ifyoushouldhappentowantto
leave C-town (?!?), everything from Smiley's to
Fuddruckers, Hammerjacks to Tower Records,
costs.
