CONSIGN LOCAL – SELL GLOBAL
“London 2015” takes place at the Business Design Center/ Islington from May 13-16, 2015 and
honors the 175th anniversary of the issuance of the “Penny Black”. Over 100 dealers are expected
to display their wares and a bevy of world-class exhibits including a special display by the Con-
federate Stamp Alliance ensure an exciting exhibition for visiting collectors. The official auction
for the event is being conducted jointly by our European affiliates Heinrich Kohler (Germany)
and Corinphila (Switzerland). This special auction will focus on rare stamps, covers and collec-
tions, especially classic material, of the entire world. Competition is likely to be keen as exhibitors
in next year’s American international show, World Stamp Show ’16, try to obtain those key items
needed for their own exhibits. Contact us for consignment details for this and all of next year’s
auctions. We will be in attendance at the show and will have lots from our own June 2015 auction
on view giving your material the widest possible exposure.
Sale 3005
Our May sale showed solid results with, as usual, strong demand for high quality stamps and
covers along with specialized collections of virtually any collecting area. A U.S. 1922 $1 Lincoln
graded “100” realized a staggering $4,500, a Burma 1935 15R George V used block realized $1,800
and a set of PRC 1964 Peonies complete sheets brought $30,000. Specialized sets, singles and col-
lections of Belgium, French colonies in Africa, Portuguese colonies and Netherlands and colonies
drew rabid interest and prices to match. The sections of Confederate States, U.S. Possessions, Brit-
ish Commonwealth collections and even classic France drew widespread interest and active bid-
ding. As always, we would like to express our gratitude to the consignors, viewers and bidders in
the sale for making it such a success. Our staff deserves thanks as well, especially those who man
the viewing room taking care of the viewers, those charged with the yeoman task of transport-
ing the lots to and from the office and the shippers who get the herculean task of processing and
packing the mounds of material.
Sale 3006
Diverse….”having variety”; a simple definition and the hallmark of the auction before you. Over
150 consignors contributed to that diversity and as, always, we are always grateful for the trust
and confidence they bestow on us by allowing HR Harmer to handle their particular stamps, col-
lections and estates. Thursday’s session features U.S. and Possessions stamps and covers and is
especially strong in classics including reprints and re-issues, 1c and 4c Pan Am inverts, a set of
the 1923 Perf 10s in complete sheets and the 1998 unissued “H” issue mint block of 20. The postal
stationery section features an array of envelope, airletter and postal card proofs and essays. Won-
derful sections of Canal Zone, Hawaii and Philippines round out the session. The second day
offers British and Foreign material highlighted by wonderful Bulgaria classics including covers,
German foreign offices and colonies, Pacific Islands postal history, Swiss officials, Iran, Saudi
Arabia and much more. The Saturday session features over 100 lots of stamp boxes and cases,
some elusive philatelic literature and, that word again, diverse US and Foreign postal history and
stationery plus flight covers. The session ends with the customary selections of US, British and
Foreign “Collections and Various” with especially strong U.S. collections, groups and stocks.
Visitors to hrharmer.com will be able to view thousands of images of many of the collections and
larger lots not shown in the catalog though scans and photocopies will still be available for those
without computer access. Bidders paying by credit card have a 3% convenience fee added to their
invoice. Viewing at the Costa Mesa Hilton begins Monday October 27 and we encourage all who
can to avail themselves of the opportunity to inspect the plentiful number of substantial large lots
and collections, in addition to enjoying all that Southern California has to offer.
