Patrick Criteser is a native Oregonian with a passion for and understanding of what it takes to run a manufacturing company with
Northwest roots and a strong local heritage.

Prior to joining The Tillamook County Creamery Association as president and CEO in August of 2012, he spent eight years as
president and CEO at Coffee Bean International, a Portland, Ore.-based coffee roaster with a 40-year-old local heritage. Criteser is an
experienced executive with a 20+ year leadership history and track record of growing and positively changing companies large and
small.

Prior to his role at Coffee Bean International, Criteser held management and strategic development roles at some of the world’s most
respected brands including Nike, Walt Disney Company and Procter & Gamble. Criteser has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical
engineering from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

In his role at Tillamook, Criteser leads strategic planning to further grow the brand and distribution of Tillamook products to families
across America. With profits from the co-op going back to its farmer-owners, Criteser works to protect their investments and preserve
a way of life for future generations of Tillamook County farm families.

Paul Anamosa, Ph.D.
Soil Scientist and Viticulturist

Dr. Paul Anamosa is the owner of Vineyard Soil Technologies, a California based viticultural consulting company, specializing in soil
analysis and land evaluation for winegrape production, vineyard design, grapevine performance, and mineral nutritional disorders.

Dr. Anamosa was raised in New Mexico and has Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Biology and Pest
Management from New Mexico State University. Dr. Anamosa joined the U.S. Peace Corp in 1979, and served as an Agricultural
Extension Agent in Jamaica focusing on soil erosion and soil fertility management. He return to the United States and earned a
Masters of Science in Soil Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then a Ph.D. in Soil Fertility Management from
the University of Florida-Gainesville with a focus on international agricultural development. Dr. Anamosa conducted his dissertation
research in Cameroon while a faculty member at the National Advanced School for Agriculture.

In 1989, following the completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Anamosa was awarded a Diplomacy Research Fellowship by the American
Association for the Advancement of Science and worked within the offices of the Technical Resources Division of the Africa Bureau
in the United States Agency for International Development in Washington, DC. From 1989 to 1996, he worked as a research strategy
consultant on soil fertility management issues in more than 15 African countries, and accumulated more than six years of long-term
assignments in Cameroon, Zaire (Dem. Rep. of Congo) and Senegal.

Dr. Anamosa returned to the United States in 1996, enrolled at University of California-Davis and received a Masters of Science in
viticulture in the spring of 1997. Paul then served as vice president and Senior Soil Scientist at Crop Care Associates, Inc. for seven
years prior to starting his own company, Vineyard Soil Technologies, in 2004. Dr. Anamosa estimates that since 1996 he has
evaluated more than 20,000 soil pits in the California wine growing regions.

Lesley Berglund

Lesley is an accomplished wine industry entrepreneur and CEO with a focus on change management. Over the past 24 years in the
wine industry she has started up the equivalent of nine new businesses, acquired and integrated four companies and led during periods
of dramatic change. As co-founder and former CEO of the Ambrosia Wine Catalogue/the Winetasting Network (which she sold in
2004) she has deep experience in consumer direct marketing of fine wines. Lesley has served on the board of 10 wine-related
companies and trade associations, and served as co-chair of the Wine Industry Technology Symposium from 2005 until 2015. In 2008,
she co-founded the WISE Academy, which provides education, training and certification for winery consumer direct professionals. In
2014, she co-founded SOLVE Services, which provides financial analysis, planning and decision support services for wineries. Today,
she spends most of her time coaching winery leaders through growth related challenges and opportunities. Beyond wine, Lesley is a
member of the World Presidents Organization and serves on its Pacific Region Board as well as the YPO-WPO International Forum
Committee. Lesley is also a third generation Napa Valley native from a grape growing family, with a BA from Wesleyan University
and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Benjamin Bois
Professor of Viticulture and Climatology

Benjamin Bois is an Assistant Professor in the Viticulture Department, Institute Jules Guyot at the University of Burgundy in Dijon,
France. His research performed within the Climate Research Center’s Biogeosciences Lab focuses on climate and viticulture
relationships, with a focus on the role of climate on terroir. Bois is the current president of the viticulture commission of the
International Organization of Vine and Wine.

Bois received an MA in Viticulture from Bordeaux Science Agro College. Prior to teaching at the University of Burgundy, Benjamin
was a winemaker at Chateau Lagarosse in Bordeaux from 2002 to 2004. In December 2004, he began his PhD thesis at Bordeaux
University concerning the spatial variability of climate within the Bordeaux wine growing region and its impact on grapevine
development and grape quality.

Paul Boss
Research Scientist
CSIRO Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization
Paul completed his undergraduate degree and a Masters of Science at the University of Auckland in New Zealand investigating the
causes of browning in apples. He then moved to Adelaide, Australia to take up a PhD scholarship studying the production of
anthocyanin pigments in grape berry skins. Following this, Paul took up a research position at CSIRO to investigate inflorescence
formation in grapes. This interest in flowering and molecular genetics lead Dr. Boss to the John Innes Centre in Norwich, England
where he worked on flowering in the model plant Arabidopsis. In 2004, Paul returned to Adelaide to lead a research group at CSIRO
investigating flavor and aroma development in grape berries, with a particular interest in the link between grape secondary metabolism
and wine flavor and aroma. His current research activities bring together the disciplines of analytical chemistry, molecular biology and
genetics to understand the impact of environment, management and genotype on grape secondary metabolism.
Dick Boushey

Dick Boushey has grown wine grapes in the Yakima Valley for 35 years. Dick and his wife Luanne also grow cherries, juice grapes
and manage vineyards in the Red Mountain AVA. Dick is currently a member of the Washington Wine Commission board and the
Wine Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Auction of Washington Wines board, the National Grape/Welch's board. He is past
president of Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers and served on the WAWGG board for 13 years.

Dick has been the recipient of several distinguished industry awards including the Washington State Grape Society Walter Clore
Award, Grower of the Year from the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers, Honorary Grower Chair of the Children's
Hospital Auction of Washington Wines, The Wine Grape Growers Industry Service Award and the 2007 Grower of the Year Award
from Wine & Spirits Magazine. When Dick started growing wine grapes there were nine wineries in Washington, today there are more
than 850 and he is excited to be involved with this tremendous growth.

Scott Burns
Professor Emeritus - Geology
Portland State University
Scott Burns is a professor emeritus of geology and past-chair of the Department of Geology at Portland State University. He has been
teaching for 45 years, with past positions in Switzerland, New Zealand, Washington, Colorado and Louisiana.

Scott specializes in environmental and engineering geology, geomorphology, soils, terroir and Quaternary geology. Scott has won
many awards for outstanding teaching including the Faculty Senate Chair Award at Louisiana Tech University in 1987, the
Distinguished Faculty Award from the Portland State Alumni Association in 2001, and the George Hoffmann Award from PSU in
2007. He has authored more than 100 publications and has received more than 25 research grants. His latest book, Cataclysms on the
Columbia, the Great Missoula Floods was released in 2009.

For the past 45 years Scott has been studying wine and terroir – the relationship between wine, soils, geology and climate. He has
studied the terroir of the Willamette Valley, Columbia Gorge, Umpqua Valley, Rogue Valley and the Illinois Valley.
Allan Carter
Executive Director

Allan started with Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada in December 2012 as a portfolio manager in the J&P Wholesale Division. In his
three years with SWS Allan has served as marketing manager, director of sales for fine wine and currently executive director of on-
premise wine. Prior to joining SWS Allan was the general manager for Domaine Serene Winery in Oregon for 10 years. When not
keeping the world safe from fine wine, he enjoys riding his Harley, dining around Vegas with his wife Ally, and mentoring local
musicians on the business of music; his first career many years ago.

Kevin Chambers

Koosah Farms
Kevin Chambers has been farming wine grapes in the Willamette Valley for 33 years. In 2013, he sold his first major property,
Resonance Vineyard, to Maison Louis Jadot of Beaune. Today, he’s developing a new permaculture vineyard and cider apple orchard
called Koosah Farm at high elevation in the Eola-Amity Hills. Kevin also developed and ultimately sold to the employees, three other
wine-related businesses: Oregon Vineyard Supply, Results Partners and Willamette Cross-Flow.

Mark Chien
Program Coordinator

Mark was born in Wilmington, Delaware, grew up in New England and received a psychology degree from Amherst College. He
became interested in vines while traveling and studying in Europe. After returning to the US, he enrolled in the viticulture masters
program at the University of California at Davis.
He was first wine maker and second vineyard manager at Pindar Vineyards, then and still the largest winery on Long Island. Mark
then managed Temperance Hill in the Willamette Valley for 16 years growing grapes, Christmas trees and timber products.
In 1999 he joined Penn State Cooperative Extension as the first wine grape extension educator. He is a long time member of the
national American Society for Enology and Viticulture and a former secretary of its Eastern Section. He also serves on the board of
the National Grape and Wine Initiative and is an active participant in the National Clean Plant Network (NCPN) and the National
Viticulture and Enology Extension Conference. In 1999 he earned his Master of Education in Agricultural Extension and Education
from Penn State.

Martin Clubb

Martin Clubb is managing winemaker and co-owner with his wife Megan of L’Ecole N° 41. This third generation, family-owned
winery is located in the old Frenchtown Schoolhouse depicted on their label. Founded in 1983, L’Ecole was the third winery in the
Walla Walla Valley. This fall, Wine & Spirits Magazine named L’Ecole a “Winery of the Year” for the fourteenth consecutive year.

L’Ecole is a partner in the highly acclaimed Seven Hills Vineyard as well as the nearby 2,700 acre vineyard development – SeVein –
home to L’Ecole’s newest estate vineyard named Ferguson. The first vintage of wine from this vineyard, 2011 Estate Ferguson, was
named best Bordeaux blend in the world over £15 at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in 2014.

Martin’s ongoing dedication and commitment to the Washington state wine industry is evident in his many leadership roles. He has
served more than 30 years on the Boards of various wine industry associations, including the Washington Wine Commission. He is
currently president and director of the Washington Wine Institute and board member and treasurer of WineAmerica. Martin was
instrumental in the founding of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, serving as its first president. Marty worked with other industry
pioneers in the development of the Walla Walla Community College Center for Enology and Viticulture and continues serving on its
wine advisory board.
Ryan Collins
Director of Viticulture
A to Z Wineworks
Ryan grew up surrounded by vineyards and beaches in Margaret River in Western Australia. He studied viticulture at the University of
Adelaide while working in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and then New Zealand. In 2009, his love for Pinot noir
drew him to Oregon's Willamette Valley for a harvest. He fell in love with the region and his future wife, returning to settle in with A
to Z Wineworks and REX HILL in 2010. Ryan works with more than 60 vineyards from around the state following sustainable
principles. Along with overseeing the estate vineyards and managing grower relations he also engaging in continuous viticulture
research. When he's not caring for our vines, you will often find him paddle boarding on the Willamette or surfing in the icy Pacific
Ocean.

Chad Douglas
Vineyard Manager
Chehalem Wines
Chad has been viticulturist/vineyard manager for Chehalem Wines for six vintages. He has a practical, agricultural up-bringing
coupled with more than seven years viticultural experience from Central Otago, New Zealand and Europe, complemented by a
Masters of Science degree. Chad's Masters Degree researched the climatic limits of viticulture in New Zealand.

Chad manages Chehalem’s Correl Creek and Ribbon Ridge vineyard sites along with his skilled and dedicated team. His viticultural
philosophy considers that the each vineyard site is unique, requiring specific managing according to their distinctive subtleties
particularly in combination with the challenges that Pinot noir provides.

When not among the vines, Chad enjoys the challenging demands of his two young boys, playing tennis, golfing and the many
outdoor pursuits that Oregon offers; skiing and hiking, also cheering on the All Blacks, New Zealand’s national rugby team from afar.

Nicole Candelora
Wine Labeling Q&A Specialist

Nicole Candelora began her career with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) in 2005 and has been an asset in
identifying and eliminating unnecessary practices to reduce regulatory burden. As a Quality Assurance Coordinator within the
Advertising, Labeling and Formulation Division Nicole serves as an expert in the area of wine labeling. She evaluates areas of
inconsistency with interpretations of laws, regulations and procedures and then provides training and advice to employees on these
matters. She has developed and implemented a number of processes that improve uniformity and consistency within the labeling
realm. Nicole also provides training and guidance to new label specialists. She works with the industry on a variety of labeling issues
geared toward bringing companies into compliance with TTB’s regulations. She is also a principal member of the COLAs Online
team, continuously working to improve the system for both internal and external users.

Jessica Cortell

Jessica Cortell is an Oregon native who has worked in Oregon vineyards for over 15 years. She has both a Bachelors of Science and
Masters of Science in Horticulture from Oregon State and a Ph.D in Food Science and Technology from Oregon State. Her Ph.D
research was with Pinot noir grapes on the influence of vine vigor on fruit and wine phenolic chemistry. Currently she is the Vineyard
Management Instructor at Chemeketa’s Wine Studies Center and is the owner of Vitis Terra Vineyard Services.
Dai Crisp
Winemaker and Grape Grower
Lumos Wine Company and Temperance Hill Vineyard
The Lumos Wine Co., launched in 2000 by Dai Crisp and his wife and business partner PK McCoy is a small operation at just 3,000
cases per year. With the help of his dauntless crew, Dai grows all of the fruit that goes into the Lumos wines on three Certified
Organic vineyards. The Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Rosé and Gewurztraminer come from Temperance Hill Vineyard, of which Dai is the
vineyard manager, Wren Vineyard (Dai’s estate vineyard) and Logsdon Ridge Vineyard (aka Rudolfo in honor of the Rudolph family
who owns it). He has been farming wine grapes - using sustainable and organic methods for 20 years. This philosophy of using a
natural approach with minimal intervention also drives the winemaking.


Rich DeScenzo

ETS Laboratories
Dr. Richard DeScenzo is the Microbiology Group Leader for ETS Laboratories. ETS provides a range of microbiological analysis for
problems occurring during the winemaking process, using a combination of classical microbiology methods and molecular biology
techniques. In addition to developing improved diagnostics for the wine industry, Rich focuses on helping clients with a wide range of
winemaking problems.

Rich received his Masters in Plant Pathology and Ph.D. in Plant Biology at the University of New Hampshire, and conducted his
postdoctoral studies on disease resistance genes in barley with the USDA/ARS at Iowa State University. He spent 10 years conducting
research on grape genomics, development of molecular diagnostics, and fermentation monitoring in the wine industry.
Nick Dokoozlian
Director of Viticulture
E&J Gallo Winery
Dr. Nick Dokoozlian is the vice president of viticulture, chemistry and enology at E&J Gallo Winery in Modesto, CA. He also serves
as the research chair for the National Grape and Wine Initiative, as well as an associate editor of the American Journal of Viticulture
and Enology. Prior to joining E&J Gallo, Dokoozlian was a member of the department of viticulture and Enology at the University of
California, Davis, where his research focused on the effects of cultural practices and environmental factors on grape and wine
composition. Dr. Dokoozlian received his PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of California, Davis

Daniel Durall
Associate Professor

Dr. Daniel Durall is an associate professor at UBC Okanagan and has been publishing in the field of mycology for more than 25 years.
His research focuses on wine yeasts that are responsible for fermenting wine and how they affect the sensory attributes in the final
wine product. He presently has secured funding from UBC, NSERC and The BC Wine and Grape Council. He also supervises four
graduate students, two undergraduate students and two technicians. Daniel has been collaborating with winemakers from Quails’ Gate,
Cedar Creek, Tantalus, 50th Parallel and Mission Hill Canadian wineries. His lab’s findings illustrate the clear influence of
commercial ADY strains on the composition of S. cerevisiae strains during inoculated and spontaneous fermentations at wineries
conducting both inoculated and spontaneous fermentations.
