‘Anas (RA) reported Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) as saying: “seeking knowledge is
obligatory for every Muslim”. (Mishkat-ul-Masabih, Hadith 218).

Introduction
The ISEB Sunday School warmly welcomes you and your family as part of our Sunday School Program.
It is our mission to provide a warm and nurturing Islamic educational environment where each child is
encouraged to learn and understand our Holy Quran and Islamic values. It is our hope and believe
that with your participation in your child’s education supported by our committed staff and
appropriate curriculum we can have an impact on the lives of our children. Our staff is committed to
excellence in all that they do in an effort to make ISEB Sunday School the best possible school for
your child. This handbook provides the information regarding the policies, procedures and the best
practices for the administration of our Sunday School.

Mission

The mission of ISEB Sunday School is to guarantee that each student achieves excellence in Islamic
knowledge that will aid them in becoming a responsible citizen. By engaging our children in programs
that meet the highest educational, ethical and Islamic standards we can create a collaborative
learning community. InshaAllah, we will continue to grow with the help and support of our parents in
different school activities. May Allah guide us and keep us on the straight path.

Registration

Registrations start on the first day of school at the Masjid during school hours. There is a minimum
registration fee that is non-refundable.
One Child $15 Two Children $20 Three Children $25 Four & more $30
Space at the school is on a first come, first served basis. The ISEB Sunday School is dedicated to
serving the needs of students and families and welcomes all to take advantage of this program.

Admission Policy
Recommended age for student’s enrollment ---- Pre-K ( 4 years )
Grade levels are based on the results of the preliminary assessment test given at the time of
registration and final in-class assessment done by the teacher.

Tuition Fee

Tuition Fee is collected monthly and is due by the first sunday of each month. Families in need
of special accommodations are encouraged to contact the Principals’ office with proof of income.
ISEB teaching staff enjoys a reduced rate for the Sunday School Tuition. Books are not included in
the tuition fee and should be purchased from our book store right away.

Drop Off and Pick up
• It is parents responsibility to make sure the child(ren) are safe inside the building when
they are dropped off. We encourage parents to attend the assembly and benefit from the
bayaans given by our community scholars.

• Please be responsible in picking up the child(ren) on time and ISEB masjid or the Sunday
School is not responsible for their safety after the dismissal of the school.
• Early pick-up should be cleared and signed by the office.

Attendance

• Regular and punctual attendance is an important responsibility of the parent and
student. Absence disrupts the continuity of the education making it difficult not only
for the student but for the teacher as well.
• School begins promptly at 10 AM with the Assembly ( watch for time change ).
• Students more than 15 minutes late to the assembly must go to the office first.
• When a student comes after the assembly is over he / she must obtain a late pass
from the office before going to the class.
• A record of three consecutive tardy events will initiate a meeting with the parent.
• A total of four unexcused absences can result in the cancellation of the student‛s
registration. Seat will be assigned to next child on the wait list.
• Parents are responsible for notifying the school office for excused absence.
• Homework should be collected from the teacher and returned to the teacher after
completion.

Quizzes and Exam

Students must take the weekly and monthly tests and the Final Exam on the scheduled dates.
Quizzes are given in the class at the discretion of the class teacher. Failure to take the final
exam will result in repeating the same class unless prior arrangements are made to schedule an
earlier exam. A written request has to be submitted to the office in advance.

Attendance, Home Work, Quizzes, Class participation, Behavior and Final Exam

If a student is placed on a probationary status the teacher will require parent teacher‛s
meeting to encourage the students and work together to improve student‛s grades and
performance. Meeting date could be scheduled with the teacher.

School books and supplies

Please make sure that all the books are purchased and labeled. It is important that students
come to school with their text books and school supplies. It shows lack of interest and
seriousness if the students come to school unprepared. School or the staff is not responsible
for any lost or stolen item. Parents will have to replace any lost book by the student. If the
purchased books are returned, they should be in their original condition. Returns with any
writings are not accepted.

Security and Safety of Students

All students must remain in the area of the school designated for ISEB Sunday School.
During school hours, students may not leave the building. Parents should clear with the office
first before they pick up their children. For valid reason only.
Parents are discouraged to stay in the hallways or in any part of the building to minimize the
chaos and confusion. Cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Emergency contact information must be on file with the school.

Please notify the office and the teacher of any of the following changes:
• Address
• Phone Numbers
• Emergency contacts
• E-mail address

Discipline

The following are important rules for each student and parent to be aware of:
• Students must remain in the school building for their safety during school hours.
• Permission from the office is required for early dismissal.
• During school hours, parents are not permitted in the classrooms.
• Vandalism and willful damage to the school property caused by the student, is
the liability of parents.
• Muslims respect the property of others. Do not use, touch or tamper with any books,
supplies, audiovisual equipment, computer system or any other material that does not
belong to the Sunday School.
• Eating, drinking and chewing gum in classrooms is not allowed.
• Students showing disobedience, un-Islamic behavior or using obscene language will be
given a verbal warning. Parents will be notified if repeated and will be required to attend
a meeting with the principal and the teacher to discuss course of action.
• Accept responsibility and consequences for their own actions.
• Show respect for teachers, administrators and peers.
• Be polite and gracious.

Dress Code

All students and staff of ISEB Sunday School are required to dress according to the
Isla mic Shari‛ah.
Boys: Full sleeve or half sleeves shirts and full-length pants. Shorts are not allowed.
Low hanging pants are not allowed.
Loose-fitting, full length garments and a scarf covering the head adequately.
Girls:
Parents must adopt the same dress code upon entering the Masjid.

Bathroom Rules
• Clean toilet seat and wash hands after use.
• Boys are to sit, not stand, to urinate (Sunnah).
• Clean yourself with water after toilet use (Sunnah).
• No socializing and playing in the bathroom.
• No obscene writings on the bathroom walls.

School Property Rules
• Keep all school furniture and property free from damage and free of graffiti.
• Keep hands off of all the electrical equipment, elevators and the computers.
• Keep school grounds clean and clear of all personal belongings, and/or garbage.

Sunday School Administration

The ISEB Sunday School Administration is onsite and available to the students and parents
each Sunday. Office hours are from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. To discuss a specific issue an
appointment is encouraged, however not required. All disciplinary actions will be handled by the
office staff. Below is the list of the Sunday School Staff.

Accidents

In case of an in-school accident, students should notify the teacher, any staff member or yard
duty personnel. The main office will notify the parents / guardians in case of emergency. It is
very important to have emergency contact names and phone numbers updated in the school
records. Please sign the form at the end of the book and return for our records.

Volunteers
Our volunteers are a great part of our success and we rely heavily in order to run effectively.
Volunteering has a meaningful and positive impact on our community. What better way is there
to connect with our community and give a little back? There are many opportunities available for
you to take advantage of, especially if you have a specific skill. Please fill out our volunteer
form, get involved and be part of our Sunday School. We encourage each family to volunteer for
at least one day of their services for the school. Volunteer group will work in conjunction with
the school administration and support all activities and functions at the school.

Parent‛s Responsibility

• Parents should drop their child(ren) at the main entrance of the Masjid 5 minutes
before the school time and pick them up at the same place when the school ends.
• Make sure your child(ren) have all the required books and bring to school every Sunday.
A school bag is recommended to keep all materials together.
• Please make sure that chil(ren) have a proper breakfast before they come to school.
• Please send snacks or boxed lunch for your child(ren) for breaktime.
• Please check with your child(ren) for homework assignments and quiz dates. Your
involvement, help and support is essential for the success of this program.
• It is parent‛s responsibility to make sure that your child(ren) submits homework
assignments on time. All homework assignments are checked and graded.
• Please DO NOT hesitate to communicate with your child‛s teacher regarding any issues
that needs to be resolved.
• Parent-Teacher Conferences must be attended when scheduled.
• Reinforce what your child(ren) are learning in school by bringing it in routine discussion
and practice at home and outside.
• Islam is a natural and honorable way of life. Make your child(ren) realize and value this
blessed gift from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta‛ala.
• Early pick-up‛s should be cleared and signed by the office.
• Parents are requested to avoid taking child(ren) for birthday parties or any social events
during school hours.
• It is parents responsibility to make sure that your child(ren) are tidy in appearance.

Teacher‛s Responsibility

• Sign – in when arrive and sign-out at the end of the school session.
• Mark student attendance for every school day.
• Follow the curriculum and prepare a lesson plan in advance.
• Make sure the students have books and all study materials with them.
• Homework assignments should be given and collected on regular basis.
• Communicate with the Principal regarding students‛ problems or other support as needed.
• Communicate with parents when needed.
• Incorporate Qur‛anic and Hadith quotes and stories routinely in study programs to
motivate, encourage the students in adopting the Islamic values and attitudes.
• Please keep your record books complete including student‛s full name, phone number and
parent or guardian‛s name.
• Please be present every school day. When you must be absent due to unavoidable
circumstances, please call in advance.
• Arrange for a substitute teacher when you are going to be absent.
• Make sure that the students do not touch or use the school property.
• Contact parents for any help needed in their children‛s progress.
• Limit the use of copier to minimize the cost. Make copies in advance, if possible.
• Please set the standard guidelines for the class and encourage students to follow them.
• Teaching young children involves patience, repetition and firmness.
• All good conducts should be recognized, encouraged and documented for awards.
• Student of the month nomination. This encourages the students to improve in all areas.

Parent –Teacher Conference

• In order to help your child have a successful school year, we need to know what is
expected of a teacher. You can find out by asking some questions and taking notes.
• To coordinate efforts of teachers and parents in achieving the learning objectives,
Parent-Teacher conferences can be arranged.
• For serious, unresolved issues, a principal-teacher-parent meeting may be scheduled.
• Submit any complaint in writing for our records.

Parent Involvement
ISEB Sunday School invites all parents and community members to take an active part in the
Islamic education process by assisting with enrichment activities and providing assistance to

the staff. Parents are always welcome to volunteer help during special event activities, such as
Qur‛an competitions and Annual Day Program. Homeroom helpers are always welcomed. Please
notify the office and the teacher if you would like to participate. We encourage feed backs
and suggestions from the parents. The success of our mission of providing quality education in
an Islamic environment relies heavily on the interaction between the school and home. Parents
are encouraged to keep up with their child‛s academic progress and to attend all the meetings
announced by the school. They are also encouraged to check the school bags for homework
ssignments and notices. Parents may request a meeting with their child‛s teacher at any time
during the school year. Parents are kindly requested to make an appointment.

Rules of Citizenship for Students

These rules will help students of all ages to learn and realize their personal potential:
• We respect each other's safety, taking no action that might endanger ourselves or
others.
• We respect teachers and other people's ideas and values by listening carefully and
avoiding falsehood and insults.
• We respect each other's property: We return the borrowed, replace the broken, and
clean the untidy.
• We avoid immoral behavior because our thoughts, appearances, words and actions
strengthen our Islamic character.
• We come to school on time with prepared assignments that fulfill our responsibilities.
• We accept personal responsibility to build a healthy, lifelong learning community.

Handbook Revision
ISEB Sunday School will amend this handbook as the need arises. Parents will be
informed of amendments through written communications from the Principal. A
revised handbook or an insert to the handbook will be provided as needed at the
beginning of each school year. Insha Allah.
