Abrasive Wheels (Grinder & Cut Off Saw)
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is suitable for anyone 16 or over.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE COURSE?
On completion of this training participants will be able to:-
Safely store and identify abrasive wheels
Be able to select the appropriate wheel use
Be able to inspect and recognise damaged wheels
Be able to mount an abrasive wheel
Understand the hazards and risks when using abrasive wheels
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is by a theory and practical test.
HOW CAN I PROGRESS?
You can progress your health and safety knowledge with higher qualifications. You should
also consider that Refresher Training is recommended at intervals not greater than 2
years.

Access for Beginners
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
The course is for anyone who is 19 years old or over.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE COURSE?
This non-accredited course is ideal for those who want to explore spreadsheets. This non-
accredited course will help you understand how to use Microsoft Access with the emphasis
of each session on building confidence through completing practical activities. It will
cover how to create databases, understand the basics of fields, relationships, queries and
reporting.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
There is no formal assessment for this course but your progress will be monitored
throughout the course.
HOW CAN I PROGRESS?
You can progress to a range of Awards and Certificates. You can follow a general computing
pathway or you could specialise into a particular area of ICT, for example systems
support, digital and creative media, web development or games and software design.

Access to Higher Education Health/ Education/Humanities Diploma
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Designed for people aged over 19 who want to go to university but:
 didn't get the A Levels they needed or have old qualifications and may need a
refresher,
 have not been in education for some time or want a change in direction or pursue a
new career
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE COURSE?
The course can be done over one or two years and is supported by an Adult Learning Loan
but currently this is waived on completion of your degree or if you are in receipt of a
pension (ask for details).

We have Access to Higher Education Diplomas available in: Health and social care
professions,
Nursing and midwifery,
Allied health care,
Teaching
Humanities.

An Access to HE Diploma is one of the main routes into University for adult learners. The
diploma is a full level 3 qualification, and is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
The course is made up of specific units, assignments and end tests, depending on your
chosen pathway of study. We will devise your timetable for you which will outline each
module of study and the assessment methods. Examinations are normally in May and June of
each year.
HOW CAN I PROGRESS?
This course will provide the entrance requirements for university on a number of pathways.
Please check with your intended university that they accept Access to HE credits on the
course(s) you are applying for.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop effectively. You’ll receive hands-on practice working with
basic and intermediate techniques to get the most out of your experience. You will learn
layer basics, photo retouching and image editing to a high standard.

There is no formal assessment for this course but your progress will be monitored
throughout the course.
HOW CAN I PROGRESS?
