Mr Abbott’s book on physics, taken to the Ordinary
Level of the General Certificate of Education, should be
welcomed by teachers of physics for its combination of
theoretical and experimental work, and for its practical
outlook, which should make the course interesting also
for those students who will not take physics beyond the
Ordinary Level. The well-illustrated references to the
application of physics in industry should also appeal to
the more practically minded student. The author has
