und international sehr gut vernetzt und kooperieren bei grundlegenden theoretischen
Arbeiten und angewandten Forschungsprojekten mit Partnern aus Wissenschaft, Industrie
und Verwaltung. Die Forschungsaktivitäten finden sich im gesamten Ingenieurbereich
wieder. Sie umfassen die Modellierung von Tragstrukturen zur Erfassung des statischen
und dynamischen Verhaltens, die mechanische Modellierung und Computersimulation
des Deformations-, Schädigungs- und Versagensverhaltens von Werkstoffen, Bauteilen
und Tragstrukturen, die Entwicklung neuer Materialien, Produktionsverfahren und
Gebäudetechnologien sowie deren Anwendung im Bauwesen unter Berücksichtigung
sicherheitstheoretischer Überlegungen und der Energieeffizienz, konstruktive Aspekte
des Umweltschutzes sowie numerische Simulationen von komplexen Stoßvorgängen und
Kontaktproblemen in Statik und Dynamik.

Abstract
Thegeneralobjectiveofthepresentworkistocharacterizethematerialbehavioroflami-
natesmadeofpaperboardlayersforuseinstructuralengineeringandtoofferamodelfor
application in design processes. For this purpose, extensive experimental investigations
arecarriedoutonlaminatesforbothin-planeandperpendiculartoplaneloadingbehavior.
Basedontheresultsfromtheexperimentalinvestigations, engineeringmodelsareestab-
lishedtorepresentthematerialbehavior. SimplificationsoftheTSAI-WUfailurecriterion
aremadeviacorrespondingparameterstorepresentthein-planebi-axialstrengthhypoth-
esisoftheinvestigatedlaminateswithstrengthvaluesobtainedfromuni-axialtensionand
compression tests. In addition, the model is modified to offer a high safety level in the
normal/shearstressinteraction. Theestablishedmodelisfedintoanumericalsimulation
environmentanditssuitabilityforthepresentpaperboardlaminateispresentedusingval-
idation tests. Additionally, case studies are presented in which the collected knowledge
andthebuiltengineeringmodelareapplied. Inafurtherstep, analyticalmodelsarepre-
sented through which the compressive strength of the laminates can be predicted based
on the properties of the individual component layers. The models are based on equilib-
riumconditionsandenergyequationswhich,amongotherthings,takeintoaccountshear
effectsoccurringbetweentheindividuallayers. Finally, testinganddesignstandardsare
discussed,whichdonotexistforpapermaterialsintheformknownforconventionalbuild-
ingmaterialsfromconstructionstandards. Whencomparingthecorrespondingstandards,
challengesandopportunitiesinstandardizationarehighlighted. Basedontheestablished
engineering model, a design approach of the laminate for ultimate load calculations in
structural engineering is derived. The focus is on a balance between safety, economic
efficiencyandecologicaljustifiability.

Zusammenfassung
Generelles Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, das Materialverhalten von Laminaten aus
PappschichtenfürdieNutzungBauwesenzucharakterisierenundeinModellzurAnwen-
dung in Bemessungsvorhaben anzubieten. Dafür werden umfangreiche experimentelle
UntersuchungenanLaminatenfürsowohldasVerhaltenbeiBelastungeninderEbeneals
auchsenkrechtzurEbenedurchgeführt.BasierendaufErgebnissederexperimentellenUn-
tersuchungenwerdenIngenieurmodellezurAbbildungdesMaterialverhaltensaufgestellt.
Dabei werden Vereinfachungen des TSAI-WU Versagenskriteriums über entsprechende
Parameter vorgenommen, um die biaxiale Festigkeitshypothese in der Ebene der unter-
suchten Laminate mit Festigkeitswerten aus uniaxialen Zug- und Druckversuchen abzu-
bilden. AußerdemwirddasModellmodifiziert,umeinSicherheitsniveaubeiderNormal-
/Schubspannungsinteraktionanzubieten. DasaufgestellteModellwirdineinenumerische
Simulationsumgebung eingepflegt und dessen Eignung für das vorliegende Laminat aus
Pappschichten mit Hilfe von Validierungsversuchen dargelegt. Zusätzlich werden Fall-
studien vorgestellt, in denen die gesammelten Erkenntnisse und das aufgebaute Inge-
nieurmodell Anwendung finden. In einem weiteren Schritt werden analytische Mod-
elle vorgestellt, über die die Druckfestigkeit der Laminate anhand der Eigenschaften der
einzelnenKomponentenlagenvorausgesagtwerdenkann. DieModellebasierenaufGle-
ichgewichtsbedingungenundEnergiegleichungen,dieunteranderemauftretendeSchubef-
fektezwischendeneinzelnenSchichtenberücksichtigen.AbschließendwirdaufVersuchs-
und Bemessungsnormen eingegangen, die für Papiermaterialien in der Form nicht ex-
istieren, wie sie für konventionelle Baumaterialien aus Baunormen bekannt sind. Beim
Vergleich der entsprechenden Normen werden Herausforderungen und Chancen bei der
Normung aufgezeigt. Basierend auf das aufgestellte Ingenieurmodell wird ein Bemes-
sungsansatzdesLaminatsfürTraglastberechnungenimBauwesenabgeleitet. Dabeiwird
derFokusaufeinGleichgewichtzwischenSicherheit,Wirtschaftlichkeitundökologische
Vertretbarkeitgelegt.

Résumé
L’objectifgénéraldecettethèseestdecaractériserlecomportementdesmatériauxstrat-
ifiés, particulièrementceuxencouchesdecarton, utilisésdanslaconstruction. Unmod-
èle sera ainsi mis sur pied et celui ci pourra être utilisé dans les projets de dimension-
nement. Pour ce faire, de nombreuses études expérimentales approfondies sont menées
surdesstratifiés,tantleurcomportementsouschargedansleplanquelorsqu’ilssontsous
charge et perpendiculaires au plan. Les résultats des études sont utilisés afin d’élaborer
des modèles d’ingénierie décrivant le comportement des matériaux. Des simplifications
ducritèrederuptureTSAI-WUsonteffectuéesàl’aidedeparamètrescorrespondantsafin
dereprésenterl’hypothèsederésistancebiaxialedansleplandesstratifiésétudiésavecdes
valeursderésistanceissuesd’essaisdetractionetdecompressionsuniaxiales. Enoutre,
le modèle est modifié afin d’offrir un niveau de sécurité élevé qu’il y’ai contrainte nor-
maleoualorscontraintedecisaillement. Lemodèleobtenuestensuiteintroduitdansun
environnementdesimulationnumérique,sapertinencepourlestratifiéutiliséestdémon-
tréeàl’aidedevérifications. Enoutre,desétudesdecassontprésentées,danslesquelles
lesconnaissancesacquisesetlemodèled’ingénierieconstruitsontappliqués. Parlasuite
desmodèlesanalytiquessontprésentés,grâceauxquelslarésistanceàlacompressiondes
stratifiés peut être prédite à l’aide des propriétés des différentes couches de composants.
Ces derniers sont basés sur des conditions d’équilibre et des équations énergétiques qui
tiennentcompte, entreautres, deseffetsdecisaillemententrelesdifférentescouchesdes
stratifiés. Enfin,nousnouspencheronssurlesnormesd’essaietdedimensionnementqui
sont jusqu’à présent inconnus des normes de construction, que ce soit pour les matéri-
auxenpapieroupourlesmatériauxdeconstructionconventionnelle. Lacomparaisondes
normes correspondantes met en évidence les défis et les opportunités que ceci pourrait
apporter. Surlabasedumodèled’ingénierieétabli,uneapprochededimensionnementdu
stratifié est dérivée et celle ci pourra être utilisée pour les calculs de charge dans la con-
struction. L’accentestmissurl’équilibreentrelasécurité,larentabilitéetl’acceptabilité
écologique.
