This book covers a broad spectrum of psychoanalytic and group
analytic issues with an inter-disciplinary perspective, and was written
successively over the past twenty years or so. Thus, it is obviously
indebted to a great many colleagues and people, in Greece and
abroad, and in other domains, from science and philosophy to music.
It would be hazardous to try and enumerate them all here, with a
high risk of inadvertently leaving someone out. A large number of
colleagues, among whom special mention should be made of Malcolm
Pines, the patriarch of group analysis after Foulkes, are properly cited
in the book as sources. They all know how much I appreciate their
contribution to the preparation of this book through our discussions
and communications or collaborations over the years and, above all,
I thank them wholeheartedly for their encouragement in my effort
to investigate further subtle and perplexed issues in group analytic
theory, meta-theory, and clinical practice that remained as yet un-
explored.

My warmest thanks to all the members of my group-analytic
groups, past and present. Nobody has taught me as much as they
have, or has given me the strength to continue at times when the
desire to deepen the understanding of the human soul seemed to be
dwindling rapidly under the burden of what appeared to be impene-
trable or inconceivable, an obstacle with which all psychological
researchers are known to struggle ceaselessly.
