Lesson 1 - Creation
Lesson 1 – Creation
The seven days of creation are fascinating to young children. It gives them a real
sense of peace and security to learn how God made everything in such a perfect
and orderly way. Spend time talking to your class about the wonderful things
that happened on each day of creation. You may want to spread these lessons
over several weeks.
Day 1 - Light and Dark Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:3-5
“And God said, Let there be light; and there was light. And God saw that the
light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. And God called
the light Day, and the darkness He called Night . . . ”

Activity:
Use the worksheet below or re-write it on your whiteboard. Let the children tell
you things that they can do in the daytime, and things that they can do at night.
Snack Idea: Melt white chocolate and milk chocolate in separate containers.
Let children dip fresh fruit into the chocolates, with the white chocolate being
day and the milk chocolate being night.

Day 2 – Sky
Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:6-8
“And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters,
and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Art Center Idea:
Make sky pictures. Give each child a piece of blue construction paper (the
sky). Lay out small cotton balls on the table with glue sticks. Show the
children how to pull apart the cotton balls, so they look like fluffy clouds.
Have them glue the clouds to the sky. (Remember to write the children’s
names on their craft, as they may look very much alike.)

Day 3 - Land and Plants
Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:9-13
“ . . . And God said, Let the dry land appear. . . “
“And God said, Let the earth sprout forth grass . . . and trees bearing their
seed . . “
Activity:
Plant a flower or grass. Give each child a small styrofoam cup. Let them put in
some soil (about 1/3 of the way full). Next, let them drop in a seed (or multiple
seeds, if growing grass). Add some more soil to fill the cup up just below the rim.
Have them add a few drops of water. Give each child a little index card with
instructions to water the plant every other day and watch how their plant grows.
Grass seems to come up quickly, giving small children the satisfaction of seeing
their plant growing.

Art Center Idea:
Use the pictures below for a sun, moon, and stars mobile. Have children color
their images, cut them out, and punch a hole in the top of each image. Tie a
string to the hole and the other end of the string to a small plastic clothes hanger.

Day 5 - Ocean Creatures and Birds
Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:20-23
“And God said, Let the waters swarm with living animals . . . and let birds fly
above the earth.”
Game Idea:
“Flip the Fish”
Directions:
Materials:
Cut large newspaper fish in preparation - you
could also use construction paper. If you have

Day 6 - Animals and Man
Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:24-27
“And God said, Let the earth bring forth living animals.”
“And God created man in His own image . . .”
Art Center Idea:
Use the coloring sheet below for the children to color.

Day 7 - God Rested
“And on the seventh day, God rested . . . “ Scripture Reference: Genesis 2:1-3
Snack Idea:
Serve animal graham crackers with some type of blue juice.
Activity:
Listen to peaceful Sunday School songs from a CD, and have the children listen
quietly. Then have a discussion about what they like to do to rest. Take this time
to review the other six days of Creation and tell how God thought all He made
was good.

Lesson 2 - Adam and Eve
Lesson 2 – Adam and Eve
Story Suggestion:
Genesis 2:4-25; Genesis 3
God formed man out of the dust of the ground. He named this first man Adam.
God took a rib from Adam’s side and formed it into the first woman, Eve. God
put this couple into a wonderful garden called Eden. He told them to freely eat
of all the fruit in the garden, but He commanded them not to eat the fruit of one
tree.
The serpent was more crafty than any other animal. He spoke to Eve and
tempted her to eat the fruit God told them not to eat. Eve listened to the serpent
and ate the fruit. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it.
Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they had to leave their wonderful home.
Game Ideas:
“The General Says”
Directions: The "General" stands in the middle of the circle of chairs and gives
commands to each child. These commands are not to be obeyed unless the
command begins with the words, "The general says." Any child that follows
orders without this authority are out of the game and must leave the circle.
Sample commands might include:
“Scratch your head,” “Step forward one step,” “Salute!” “Turn around
twice.”
“Apple Guessing Game”
Directions: Give each child an apple (they can be green or red, or both). Let
each child examine their apple very carefully, looking for anything that they
can remember about their apple. Once all of the children have had a chance to
do this, collect the apples in a basket and place the basket in the center of the
table. Now have the children come up to the basket and see if they can
identify their apple. Just like apples can be told apart, God knows each of us,
too!
