What's new in this release of Odysseyware® v2.47
Odysseywarev2.47containsseveralimprovements:
Whentakingaquizortest,insomesituations,thestudentisallowedtocontinuethesameattemptif
accidentallyloggedoff.
Typically,ifastudentaccidentallylogsoutoftheapplicationwhiletakingaquizortest,thequizortestgetslockedbythe
systemandthestudentmustrequestanunlockbytheteacher.Forexample,astudentaccidentallyclosesthebrowserwhile
answeringquestionsforaquiz.Inthissituation,thestudenthasoneattempttotakeaquizortest.Thequizgetslockedwhen
thestudentattemptstotakeitagainandmustrequestanunlockbytheteacher.
Now,thequizstillgetslocked,butoncetheteacherhasunlockedit,thestudentgetstocontinuethesame,oneattempt.Thisis
toensurethatexistingworkisnotlostandthatthereportingisaccurate.Inotherwords,beforethisimprovement,reports
wouldshowthestudentneeded2attemptstocompletethequizortestthatwaslockedandnowitshowsoneattemptwhen
thequizortestisaccidentallyclosed.Intheexamplebelow,thisiswhattheteacherseesintheGradebook.Noticethateven
thoughtheDateAssignmentOpenedandDateTurnedInaretwodifferentdates,thestudentonlyusedoneattempt.Thedate
differenceshappenedbecauseofanaccidentalbrowsercloseandanunlockwasrequired.Studentactivityreportsalsoshow
oneattempt.

Note:Ifthestudentturnsinaquizortestanddoesnotpassthesetthreshold,ifthepacingattempts
allowedissetto1,thenthestudentmaynottakethequizortestagainunlesstheteacherreassignsit.
SubmittedDateontheLearnerDashboardhasbeencorrectedtoshowthemostrecentdatethestudent
submittedanassignment.
Insomesituations,theSubmittedDateonastudent'sLearnerDashboardmayhaveshownthemostrecentdatethestudent
openedanassignmentforthecourse.Thismayhavehappenedifthestudentopenedanassignment,didnotturnitin,and
closedtheassignment.Later,thestudentopenedtheassignmentagain,completedtheassignmentandturneditin.Thisrelease
correctstheSubmittedDatetoshowthelatestormostrecentdatethestudentsubmitted(turnedin)theassignmentforthe
course.ThisSubmittedDatefieldisrepresentingthecurrentstatusoftheassignment.

ImprovementtothemessagealertingstudentsatschoolsusingE-Cashwhene-cashisrunninglow
Someschoolspurchasecurriculumusingthepre-payperunitratherthanbuyinglicenses.ThisisknownasE-Cash.Studentsat
schoolsusingE-Cashwouldseeamessagealertingthemthate-cashisrunninglow.Now,themessageismorefriendlyinthat
studentsarenotifiedtocontacttheirteacherwhenaccessingthenextunit.TheschoolAdminalsoseesanotificationwhene-
cashisrunninglowandhopefullythestudentsneverseethismessagebelow.
Forfailedlogouts,browsercloses,etc.,studentsget25minutescredittoreportsessiondurationandstudent
activitytime
Accuratelyreportingstudentactivitytime(timeontask)andstudenttimeintheapplication(sessionduration)aresomeofthe
mostimportantfunctionsforaschool.Togiveasimpleexplanation,whenastudentlogsintotheapplication,asessiontimer
starts,andthenwhenthestudentopensanassignment,anactivitytimerstartstorecordtimeontask.Whenthestudentclicks
theTurnItInbuttonforanassignment,thisstopstheactivitytimer.Or,iftheassignmentisnotturnedit,butthestudentlogs
outoftheapplicationusingtheSignOutbutton,thistriggersthestopoftheactivityandsessiontimers.However,ifthestudent
failstologoutproperly,forexample,thestudentjustclosesthebrowsertab,thesystemneedsawaytoadjustthetimeontask
andsessiontime.
Theimprovementisthatastudentiscredited25minutes(1,500seconds) activitytimewhenanassignmentisopened.Ifthe
studentdoesnothingintheassignmentandwhetherornothe/shelogsout,oneofthefollowingresultsoccur:

Ifthestudentfailstologout,forexample,shejustclosesthebrowsertab,shereceives25minutesactivitytimeand

sessiontime.
Note:Withafailedlogout,thestudent'ssessionendsatthepresetsession_closed_attimewhichis
currentlysettoonehouror3,600seconds.IftheLogin/LogoutTimesreportisrunwithinthathour,the
sessiondurationshowsas"InProgress".Afteranhour,thereportwillshowsessiondurationas
approximately25minutes.Studentactivitytime(timeontask)isavailableinseveralreports,suchasthe
DetailedStudentGradingreportforgradedassignmentsandtheStudentActivityDetailedBreakdown
report.
Ifthestudentlogsoutusingtheapplication'sSignOutbutton,theactivitytimeandsessiontimeareadjustedtothe

reflectthecurrenttime.
ThisexampleshowstheLogin/LogoutTimesreportforastudentwherethestudentisgiven25minutescreditforanassignment
wherethestudentfailedtologout.
