A VERY GOOD COPY OF THIS EXTREMELY SCARCE JOURNAL, which Was
printed without any authority from Bartram. The notes on the native
plants are one of the most interesting and valuable features of the book.
Field says: “This visit of the father of the naturalist, William Bar-
tram, to the Central Council Fire of the Six Nations, is especially interest-
ing, not only as having been made at so early a date, hut as affording us
in this work, a plan and'view of the Long-House, peculiar to the tribes
of that Confederacy.”
