TwonewspeciesofthefamilyTrogositidae,Nemozomacaucasiciim,Menetries,1832andGn/nocharis
japonicn(REITTER,1889),arenewlyrecordedfromCzechoslovakia.LatterspeciesandOstomadiversa
PIC, 1921 areplaced withintliegenusAncywim REITTER, 1876.AncyronaIcwisiREITTER, 1876is
designatedasthetypespeciesofthegenus.
AkeytotheCentral-EuropeanTrogositidaeispresented.

Uptilinow,44specieshavebeenclassifiedwithinAjicyronaREITTER,1876(distribution:Africa
southofSahara,South America, EasternAsia,Australia). REITTER (1876) erected thegenus
withoutdesignationofatypespecies.HeclassifiedfourAfricanandthreeAsianspecieswithin
thegenus.SincesystematicpositionoftheAfricanspeciesisunclear(theycanbelongtothegenus
Latolaevn,REITTER,1876),IheredesignatetheAsianspeciesAncyronaIransiREITTER,1876asthe
typespeciesofthegenus.

present. Mandibleswithoutdistinctmolarpart.Antennalclub3-segmented,antennawith10
joints.Apicaljointsoflabialandmaxillarypalpsconiform.Mentumlarge(Fig.19).Headdorsally
withblackshortandthickscalyhairs.
Thorax: Frontcoxalcavitiesopenbehind. Frontcoxaestronglytransverse. Prosternal
processstronglydilated(Fig.18).Mesocoxalcavitiesnearlyclosedbymeso-andmetasternite.
Mesocoxaetransverselyoval,intercoxalprocessslender.Discriminallineofmetasterniteimper-
ceptible.Metacoxaetransverse,long,withstraightgroove.Trochantersandfemoraarenotin
heteromeran(tenebrionid)position(basesoffemoraarenotelongate).Alltibiaewithshortspines
onouterandpartofventralfaces.Tibialapiceseachwithonelongcurvedandoneshortstraight
spines. The first tarsomeres verysmall and scarcely perceptible, tarsi 5-segmented. Bisetose
empodiimidistinct.Pronofumwithblackshortandthickscalvhairsandlightlongitudinalstripe
atmiddle.Mesonotumwithwidescutellum(Fig.3).Elvtrawithoutcarinae,withimpressionsin
doublerows,withthickshortscalyhairs.Scalyhairsareblack,orpale,thelatterform X-Iike
pictureinmiddleofelytra.

Thorax: StructureofventralsideofthoraxsimilartothatofA.lexcisi.Frontcornersof
pronotummoreorlesssubacuminate(withvariabilityamongspecimens).Anteriormarginof
pronotummoredeeplyemarginatethaninA.japonica(cf.Fig.7),butshapeofpronotumisvaried
amongspecimens.Sculptureofpronotumcoarserwithratherlargeimpressions.Pubescenceis
similartothatofhead. ElytrawithsculpturesimilartothatofA.japonicabutdoublerowsof
impressionsfrom 1 to6withscarcelyvisiblecarinae.Hairswhichgrowfromimpressionsare
slender,longanddecumbent.Wingswithfourveinsinanalfield.1Anotconnectedwith2A,both

extraordinarily thin (Fig. 1). Segment 9 reduced, spicuiar fork present. Two plates situated
dorsoventrallyinitsmembrane(Fig.6).
All body surfacelightordarkbrownbutpalerantennaeandlegs.
