About Numerische Mathematik
Mit großer Freude habe ich die Bearbeitung und Fortf¨uhrung dieses klassischen Lehrbuchs¨uber die numerische Mathematik ¨ubernommen. Ich habe versucht, den Inhalt des Buchesan die Entwicklung anzupassen, ohne den Anspruch meiner Vorg¨anger, der Herren KollegenProf.Dr.R. Stiefel und Prof.Dr.H.R. Schwarz, auf Vollst¨andigkeit, Rigorosit¨at bei denmathematischen Grundlagen und algorithmische Orientierung bei der Darstellung der Verfahrenaufzugeben.Inhaltlich habe ich eine Reihe von ¨Anderungen durchgef¨uhrt. Das Kapitel ¨uber lineare Optimierungist weggefallen, weil dies heute kaum noch in den Kanon der numerischen Ausbildunggeh¨ort und es gute Lehrb¨ucher gibt, die sich ausschließlich diesem Thema widmen. EinKapitel ¨uber Fehlertheorie ist hinzugekommen. Die Kapitel ¨uber Interpolation und Funktionsapproximationhabe ich zusammengelegt, weil ich glaube, dass in den Anwendungen vonder Aufgabe ausgegangen wird Daten oder Funktionen zu approximieren, und erst danndie Entscheidung f¨ur die Interpolation oder f¨ur die Approximation gef¨allt wird. Die anderenKapitel haben sich mal mehr, mal weniger ver¨andert, der Leser der fr¨uheren Auflagensollte insgesamt keine großen Umstellungsprobleme haben. Am Ende der Kapitel gibt esmanchmal einen Abschnitt ¨uber Anwendungen, die ausf¨uhrlicher behandelt werden als dieBeispiele innerhalb des Textes, und immer einen Abschnitt ¨uber Software, deren Gebrauchf¨ur uns Numeriker unerl¨asslich ist und die in verwirrender Vielfalt ¨uber das Internet oderandere Quellen erreichbar ist.
