Magid Shihade, PhD, teaches at the Abu-Lughod Institute for International Studies
at Birzeit University, Birzeit, Palestine. He completed his studies in Israel, Ger-
many, and the United States and taught at colleges in the United States, Pakistan,
and Palestine. His research interests focus on modernity, violence, identity, and
the anthropology and politics of knowledge. He serves on the editorial board of
the Journal of Alternative Perspectives in the Social Sciences, Resistance Studies Maga-
zine, and Interface: A Journal about and for Social Movements.
