Thisproceedingbookof Nostradamusconference(http://nostradamus-conference.
org) contains accepted papers presented at this event in June 2013. Nostradamus
conference was held in one of the biggest cities-Ostrava (the Czech Republic,
http://www.ostrava.cz/en).
Conferencetopicsarefocusedonclassicalaswellasmodernmethodsforpredic-
tionofdynamicalsystemswithapplicationsinscience,engineeringandeconomy.
Topicsare(butnotlimitedto):predictionbyclassicalandnovelmethods,predictive
control,deterministicchaosanditscontrol,complexsystems,modelingandpredic-
tion of its dynamics, interdisciplinary fusion of chaos, randomness and evolution
andmuchmore.
Prediction of behavior of the dynamical systems and modeling of its structure
isvitallyimportantprobleminengineering,economyandsciencetoday.Examples
ofsuch systemscanbe seenin the worldaroundusandof coursein almostevery
scientific discipline, including such “exotic” domains like the earth’s atmosphere,
turbulentfluids,economies(exchangerateandstockmarkets),informationflowin
socialnetworksand its dynamics,populationgrowth,physics(controlof plasma),
chemistryandcomplexnetworks.The mainaim of theconferenceisto create pe-
riodicalpossibilityforstudents,academicsandresearcherstoexchangetheirideas
andnovelmethods.Thisconferencewillestablishaforumforthepresentationand
discussionofrecenttrendsintheareaofapplicationsofvariousmodernaswellas
classicalmethodsforresearchers,studentsandacademics.
Theselectionofpaperswasextremelyrigorousinordertomaintainthehighqual-
ity oftheconferencethatis supportedbygrantno.CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0072funded
by Operational Programme Education for Competitiveness, co-financed by ESF.
Regular as well as larger amount of student’s papers has been submitted to the
conference and topics, that are in accordance with ESF support as well as with
conferencetopics, has been accepted after positive review. Based on accepted pa-
pers structure and topics, proceedingbookconsist of sections like: Chaos, Evolu-
tion and Complexity discussion topics from the field of evolutionary algorithms,
deterministicchaos,itscomplexdynamicsandmutualintersectionsofallthreetop-
ics (chaos powered evolutionary algorithms, engineering of mathematical chaotic

circuits, etc.). Section Nature-Inspired Algorithms and Nonlinear Systems con-
tainparticipationsaboutuseofbio-inspiredalgorithmsonvariousproblems(fore-

complexstructures, etc.). Section NonlinearandPredictive Control and Nonlinear
Dynamicsand Complex Systems contain papers about controlling modeling and
analysis of complex and nonlinear systems and the last section, Various Topics,
containsa few borderlinepapersthatseem to be still interesting and belongingto
theconferencetopics.
For this year, as a follow-up of the conference, we anticipate further publica-
tionofselectedpapersinaspecialissueoftheprestigiousjournalSoftComputing,
International Journal of Automation and Computing, special book in Emergence
ComplexityandComputationseriesandmore.
