Female. Body length6mm,widthabout18mm.Bodymoderatelyelongate
andgentlyconvexabove,withsidesnearlyparallel;surfaceshining,entirelychestnut
brownexcept for hea labrum,medianlongitudinalareaofpronota1disc,scutellum
andsomepartsofelytra,whichareblackasshowninFig.1A.Antennaeandlegsyel-
lowishbrown.Vestiturepaleyellow,ratherlongandsemidecumbent.
Headgentlyconvexbetweeneyesandweaklydepressedinsubvertica1portionbe-
tweenantennae;surfacedeeply,denselyandrathercoarselypunctate;Clypea1ma「9in
entire,transverseandweaklyroundedatmiddle.Antennarathershort,notattainin9to
posterjorangleofpronotum;basalsegmentrobustandsubcylindrica1,2ndsmalland
subclavate,3rdsubtriangularandalittlelongerthan2nd,4thabout1.7timesaston9as

Pronotumsubquadrate,almostaslongasitsbasalwidth,withsidesweaklysinu-
atejustbeforeposterior angles,slightlyroundedatmiddle;discmoderatelyconvex,
rathersparselyandevenlypunctate,surfacesmoothandshiningamongthepunctures,
medianlongitudinalchannelbarelyseeninbasalarea;posterioranglesprojectedpos-
teriad,eachwithdoublecarinaeabove, withouter carinashallowandraisedalonglat-
eralmargin.Scutellumfiattene lingulateandobtuselypointedapicad.
Elytraabout2.2times as longas its basalwidth,withsidesalmost parallel in
basal two-thirds, thence weakly rounded and gradually convergent towards apices
whichareordinarilypointed;striaewelldefine deeplyandcoarselypunctate; inter-
vals rather flattene punctulate, irregularly and transversely rugose. Basal platesof
eachoutermarginangulatenearbasalportion, thenclearlynarrowedoutwards. Legs

Distribution. Ishigaki-jimaIslandoftheRyukyuIslands.
This new speciessomewhat resembles Reitterelater amamiensisOHIRA, 1968
fromAmami-0shimaIsland,Tokunoshima IslandandOkinawa-honto Islandof the
RyukyuIslands,butcanbedistinguishedfromthelatterbythelargerandstouterbody
andmoreelongatepronotum,moresparselyandevenlypunctateonthedisc.
要 約
大平仁夫:日本産コメツキムシ科の新種, xLI. - 本報告では2亜科に所属する2新種を記
載した.
P,・odrasteriusokinawensls (オキナワマダラチビコメツキ) は, 沖縄本島国頭の宜野座村松田
で見いだされた体長6mmの雌個体である. 体は濃赤褐色で光沢を有する. また, 上翅に黒色
の特有の斑紋を有するので, 近似種との識別は容易である. 雄はまだ得られていない.
Reitterelaterkuriharai (イシガキチャイロコメツキ) は, 石垣島の於茂登岳山麓の畑の生け垣
にされているイスノキの樹皮の隙間から見いだされた. 体長7.5mmの雌個体である. 体は暗赤
褐色で光沢を有する. 一般外形は奄美大島から新種として記載されたRamamiensis (アマミチ
ヤイロコメツキ) に類似しているが, 体はより大型でより細長く, 前胸背板の点刻はより細か
くてよりまばらに印する. 雄はまだ得られていない.
