Extensive sampling during 2000–2009 resulted in discovery of 65 species of
Lepidoptera that have not been reported from the Kola Peninsula (i.e., Mur-
manskayaoblastofRussia)inourearlierpublications.Criticalrevisionofdata
publishedinseveralpapersbytheRussianscientistsandinthecomprehensive
CatalogueoftheLepidopteraofRussiaaddedfurther59speciestotheregional
fauna(amongwhichwecontrolledrecordsof15species),while60speciesare
excludedaserroneousordoubtfulrecords.Wealsoconfirmedrecordsof12spe-
cieswhichwereknownfromoldpublicationsonly,andreportedinterestingfind-
ingsof71rarespeciesthatexpandtheirdistributionrangeordemonstrateinter-
estingecologicalpatterns.ThefaunaofmothsandbutterfliesoftheMurmansk
regionnowtotals813species.
