This book could not find its way to your hands without significant support and
help from a number of people, present both in my current life and from years
past. To name but a few: Thomas Walker, English instructor at Culver Military
Academy; Herman Belmont MD, director of child psychiatry at Hahnemann
Medical College who encouraged my first medical writing experience; the many
interesting reps and regional directors at Shire Pharmaceuticals who supported
the many speaking and learning opportunities with medical colleagues for many
years as a national speaker for Shire.
(Pharmaceutical companies have contributed considerably to the public good,
and it is most disconcerting to see how they have suffered by default at the hands
of so many who simply don't appreciate the importance of understanding the
basic science or ongoing medical communication in that dinner meeting
context.)
