Om een saboteur te vinden wordt rechercheur Carl Lindsey aan de bemanning van het ruimtevaartuig Neptunus toegevoegd. Het schip vertrekt in het jaar 2143 voor een vierjarige missie naar Neptunus. Het plot rammelt aan alle kanten en moet voor de afronding maar liefst gebruik maken van twee deus-ex-machina. Geen enkel figuur krijgt reliëf en elk heeft psychologische problemen; selectiecriteria voor astronauten zijn er blijkbaar niet. Tijdens de eerste helft van het boek gebeurt er niets; de pagina's worden gevuld met bespiegelingen over het geloof. Dit boek wordt op de achterflap als een 'christelijke sciencefictionthriller' aangemerkt. Dat eerste klopt. Als de zaak reddeloos is, brengt een gebed verlossing en natuurlijk is de saboteur een wetenschapper die van God los is. Maar sciencefiction is het beslist niet.
