Preface
Application-centric nanomaterials are discovered chronologically with technological
civilization across the globe. Numerous technologies are entertained to engineer
qualitative nanomaterials for the productive application in a wide range of application.
Prominently, numerous inspiring properties of nanomaterials are promisingly
incorporated to produce nanocomposite, nanomedicine and many more. Therefore,
advanced research and development work in nanoscience and nanotechnology has
impacted our lives in many ways by generating a new fundamental understanding of
physical phenomena and material behaviour at the nanoscale. This knowledge
has represented a scientific breakthrough in designing and development of new
materials, structures and devices. Fabrication processes that can reliably produce
features and structures with nanoscale resolution are critically important for nanoscale
manufacturing and many other emerging applications. A comprehensive representative
set of nanoscale technologies in processes, materials, pharmaceuticals, electronics,
instruments, aerospace, automobile, photonic devices, robotics, renewable energy,
biosensors, biomedicine and biotechnology have reached or are currently introduced to
mass production. On the other hand, nanomaterials are playing a significant role in
nanomanufacturing of newly developed devices for various novel practical
applications. This is of particular importance to enthusiasts who are in search of
materials with unique properties and with unmatched performance under testing
conditions. The research and development being carried out in this particular area has
led to novel material designs with optimized properties and to distinct cutting-edge
routes of nanomanufacturing for the development and processing of such materials as
well as devices.
Adhering to the above objectives, the chapters in the proposed book are meticulously
planned on fundamentals and advances in the field of nanomaterials. The latest
manufacturing techniques properties and applications of nanomaterials have been
presented. The nanomaterials produced at nano scales possess unique and superior
properties compared to conventional materials. Therefore, their design scenario and the
modern manufacturing approaches for their synthesis is a highly important area
requiring interdisciplinary efforts. This book unfolds on the topics related to the origin
and the introduction of nanomanufacturing. It also enlists the importance of
nanomanufacturing in the present day. Techniques such as additive or subtractive
manufacturing, mass or replication conservation methods, top-down and bottom-up
approaches for nanomanufacturing have been addressed in Chapter 1 However,
numerous inherent challenges are encountered to transform nanomanufacturing.
Therefore this book Chapter 2 dedicatedly discussed the numerous challenges and
opportunities in nanomanufacturing for eminent applications. Furthermore, these
nanomanufacturing processes could be stacked under several criteria based on familiar
confinement. Thus, a comprehensive study has been exercised to explore
nanomanufacturing and classified the different nanomanufacturing processes to
