Flt Lt John Webster RAF and AAF He was born in Outtrim, Austrailia on 25th March 1917. He flew many planes, yet speaks about the Mosquito fondly, he was a Night Intruder, they were called Lone Wolf Night Riders, the escapdes he had in his squadrons became a film which gained fame as, The Gestapo Hunters. He was awarded the DFC & DSO Was an A1 instructor of all the WW2 planes and jets. Written in his own words, you can hear his thoughts and opinions leaping from the page, here is a piece of social history, plus details of different planes, instruments and their abilities. Offering a fighter pilots first hand accounts, of wars heroics, and sadness's. His children have medals and letters received from, Her Majesty The Queen, for his services of, Over And Above The Call Of Duty. After the war, John was sent to Germany to help rebuild, The Luftwaffe. My Quest For Wings, is mini autobiography of his flying career. Born in Outback Australia, into a farming family of 9 children, they were poor and uneducated, yet he dreamt of flying planes, and gainst all odds he trained as an engineer of planes at 22 yrs old. In 1939 he came to England, and went on to France as a member of the British Expeditionary Force, and was one of the thousands rescued at Dunkirk. Upon his return to England, he entered pilot training school. John is a colourful and determined person, a man of many talents, an artist and dress maker, (made his wifes wedding dress) and he even built his own house in Australia, plus owned a Tiger Moth, and ran his own flying school. He travelled the world, lived an exciting life, and detailed in this book are accounts of missions and training students.
