About the Editors
Chang Wen Chen is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at
Buffalo, State University of New York. He was Allen Henry Endow Chair Professor at the
FloridaInstituteofTechnologyfromJuly2003toDecember2007;ontheElectricalandCom-
puterEngineeringfacultyattheUniversityofRochesterfrom1992to1996;andontheElec-
tricalandComputer Engineering facultyattheUniversityofMissouri-Columbiafrom1996
to2003.
Professor Chen has been the Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia since
January 2014. He has also served as the Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Circuits
and Systems for Video Technology from 2006 to 2009, and been an editor for several other
majorIEEEtransactionsandjournals.
ProfessorChenreceivedaBSfromtheUniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChinain
1983,anMSEEfromtheUniversityofSouthernCaliforniain1986,andaPhDfromtheUni-
versityofIllinoisatUrbana-Champaignin1992.HeandhisstudentshavereceivedeightBest
PaperAwardsorBestStudentPaperAwardsoverthepasttwodecades.Hehasalsoreceived
severalresearchandprofessionalachievementawards,includingtheSigmaXiExcellencein
GraduateResearchMentoringAwardin2003,theAlexandervonHumboldtResearchAward
in 2009, and the State University of New York at Buffalo Exceptional Scholar – Sustained
AchievementAwardin2012.HeisanIEEEFellowandaSPIEFellow.
TasosDagiuklasreceivedhisfirstdegreefromtheUniversityofPatras(Greece)in1989,an
MScfromtheUniversityofManchester(UK)in1991,andaPhDfromtheUniversityofEssex
(UK)in1995,allinElectricalEngineering.HeisAssistantProfessorattheSchoolofScience
and Technology at the Hellenic Open University, Greece. He currently leads the Converged
NetworksandServices(CONES)ResearchGroup(http://cones.eap.gr),carryingoutresearch
intheareasofFutureInternetArchitectures,MediaOptimization,andCloudInfrastructures
and Services. Dr. Dagiuklas is a Senior Member of the IEEE, the Chair for IEEE MMTC
3DIG WG, and an IEEE MMTC E-Board Member. He has served as Vice-Chair for IEEE
MMTCQoEWGandaKeyMemberforIEEEMMTCMSIGand3DIGWGs.HeisAssociate
TechnicalEditorforIEEECommunicationsMagazine.Hehasservedasguesteditorformany
scientific journals. He is a reviewer for journals such as IEEE Transactions on Multimedia,
IEEECommunicationLetters,andIEEEJournalonSelectedAreasinCommunications.His
researchinterestsincludeFTV,3DV,mediaoptimizationacrossheterogeneousnetworks,QoE,
andcloudinfrastructuresandservices.

LuigiAtzoriisAssociateProfessorattheDepartmentofElectricalandElectronicEngineering
at the University of Cagliari (Italy) and Research Associate at the Multimedia Communica-
tionsLaboratoryofCNIT(ConsorzioNazionaleInteruniversitarioperleTelecomunicazioni).
Hisresearchinterestsareinmultimediacommunicationsandcomputernetworking(wireless
andwireline),withemphasisonmultimediaQoE,multimediastreaming,NGNserviceman-
agement, service management in wireless sensor networks, architecture and services in the
InternetofThings.
Professor Atzori is a Senior Member of the IEEE (since 2009), Chair of the Steering
CommitteeoftheIEEEMultimediaCommunicationsCommittee(MMTC),andCo-Chairof
theIEEE1907.1standardon“Network-AdaptiveQualityofExperience(QoE)Management
Scheme for Real-Time Mobile Video Communications”. He is the coordinator of the Marie
CurieInitialTrainingNetworkonQoEformultimediaservices,involvingtenEuropeaninsti-
tutionsandoneinSouthKorea.
ProfessorAtzorihasbeenanEditorforWirelessNetworksJournalandaGuestEditorfor
IEEECommunications Magazine, MonetJournal, andSignal Processing:ImageCommuni-
cationsJournal.HeisamemberoftheeditorialboardofIEEEInternetofThingsJournaland
AdHocNetworks.Hehasservedastechnicalprogramchairforvariousinternationalconfer-
encesandworkshops.Hehasalsoservedasareviewerandpanelistformanyfundingagencies,
includingFP7,Cost,theItalianMinistryofEducation,UniversitiesandResearch(MIUR),and
Regional.
Periklis Chatzimisios (SMIEEE) is Associate Professor at the Department of Informat-
ics at Alexander TEI of Thessaloniki (Greece). Recently, he has been a Visiting Aca-
demic/Researcher at the University of Toronto (Canada) and the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (USA). Dr. Chatzimisios is involved in several standardization activities, serv-
ingasaMemberoftheStandardsDevelopmentBoardfortheIEEECommunicationSociety
(ComSoc) (2010–today), as Secretary of the IEEE 1907.1 Standardization Working Group,
andlatelyasanactivememberofIEEEResearchGroupsontheInternetofThings,Commu-
nications&NetworkingInfrastructure,andSoftwareDefined&VirtualizedWirelessAccess.
Dr. Chatzimisios has served as Organizing/TPC Committee Member for more than 150
conferencesandFounder/Organizer/Co-Chairformanyworkshopsco-allocatedwithflagship
IEEE/ACMconferences.HealsoholdseditorialboardpositionsforseveralIEEE/non-IEEE
journalsandistheDirector(Co-Directorduring2012–2014)fortheE-letteroftheIEEETech-
nicalCommitteeonMultimediaCommunications(MMTC).Heistheauthor/editorofeight
booksandmorethan85peer-reviewedpapersandbookchaptersonthetopicsofmultimedia
communications, performance evaluation, and standardization activities of mobile/wireless
communications – with more than 1300 citations by other researchers. Dr. Chatzimisios
received his PhD from Bournemouth University (UK) (2005) and his BSc from Alexander
TEIofThessaloniki,Greece(2000).
