‘The RCOG has a strong international brand, and the MRCOG
‘examination is universally recognised as a qualification of high repute.
Consequertly, the examination has maintained its appeal to intema-
tional candidates. However, for this cohort of candidates a high pass
rate of the writen part of the examination Is at odds witha relatively
low pass rate of tha more challenging practical eomponert of te part
examination

EMQs Section of Part 2 MRCOG
Examination

How to score high

This section is regarded by many overseas candidates taking the
part 2 MRCOG as the most dificult part ofthe writen examination.
Tivo papers must by answered: a morning paper of 45 questions for
135 minutes and a second EMQ paper in the aflernoon lasting

135 minutes. Each question consists of

+ short instructions,
+ four or five short questions,
+ about eight to twelve options.

Forty-five questions contribute to 40% of the total marks; eaci!
question is worth 1.5 of the MCQ question. Therefore, you have
to divide the time allocated for papers one and two (morning and
_atternoon papers) according to time needed for each section of
the papers,

We are trying inthis section to approach the answering method under
five categories.

1. Try to understand the question.

Read carefully and understand the Instuctions and what is required

(of you. Try t0 work within the framewor« of the instructions. Read the
questions one by one and do not jump from ore to another.
