CHRISTIAN MEYER MENSURA MONOCHORDI
Explanation
This table summarises information about texts and manuscripts related to monochords
as presented in Christian Meyer, Mensura Monochordi: la division du monochorde,
IXe-XVe siècles. Paris: Société de musicologie, 1996.
The first column gives an alphanumeric list of all texts (A-M). The text numbers
correspond with Meyer's numbering. The column with the header 'Date' in the yellow
cells shows which non-diatonic pitches are mentioned by Meyer. The codes in the last
column only refer to substantial text contents.
The aggregated data in in the Summaries below provide insight into the frequency
of texts mentioning enharmonic and / or chromatic pitches in relation to the sources
analysed by Meyer.
