ation, an International not-for-profit association under Belgian Law, integrates all
management, governing, and administrative functions necessary for the operation
of the framework. The COST Association currently has 36 member countries

EUALGAEpromotestheestablishmentofaEuropeannetworksharingacommon
goal:thedevelopmentofaneconomicallyfeasiblemodelforthecommercializationof
algae-based bioproducts. EUALGAE was created to stimulate interaction among
researchgroupsacrossEurope,andtofostercooperationbetweenacademiaandindus-
try.Thisscientificplatformgeneratesasynergisticapproachforutilizationofmicro-
algae biomass for wastewater bioremediation, and production of sustainable fuel,
feed, and fine chemicals. Through the work of EUALGAE, the idea of this book
emerged, and all authors were enthusiastic about the project. Their commitment
andhardworkhasledtothisfinalproduct.Wealsocordiallythankallthecontributing
authors for their talent and efforts in writing high quality chapters and ensuring the
reliability of the information provided. To a minimum extent, this publication also
