Hella S. Haasse (1918) en Willem Nijholt (1934) werden beiden geboren op Java en brachten hun kindertijd door in Nederlands-Indië. Hun leven lang delen zij de liefde voor hun geboorteland met elkaar.<br /><br /> In 2004 begon Willem Nijholt zijn herinneringen op te schrijven. Hij schrijft over het paradijselijke Indië en zijn aangrijpende kampervaringen, over zijn liefde voor het toneel en het omgaan met een ernstige ziekte. In de meeslepende verhalen die hij Hella S.
