INTRODUCTION
There are a lot of books out there that make huge promises about how to
make it big as a wellness practitioner. Most likely, their get-rich-quick
programs either expect you to overwork yourself, become an MLM addict, or
charge unrealistically high rates for your work. This is not one of those
books.
This book is about helping you break through your own barriers to growth
using proven strategies and advice from some of the top minds in the field of
massage. These six- and seven-figure massage therapists found out how to
create freedom and results, and I’ve gathered up their knowledge and
strategies so you can do the same. Starting a business is hard work, but
what’s the point of work if you don’t have the time and energy to enjoy your
life?
I’ve struggled with this question and others since 2008 when I entered the
massage therapy business. As a recently graduated LMT, I quit my spa job
and started a massively successful private practice, all while being super shy
and terrified of making mistakes along the way. In spite of my often crippling
anxiety, I created a business that has done nearly $10 million in lifetime
sales. I definitely didn’t start at this level, and it’s taken many years of hard
work and steady growth. Today we are doing $2 million in annual revenue
across all of our studios. Here’s a statistic to consider: only 3 percent of
female entrepreneurs in the USA break that million dollar per year revenue
sales mark. That means 97 percent never get there. When I read this, I got
seriously angry. And that anger turned into part of my life’s mission. If I can
do this and figure it out (even with all my fears and insecurities) anyone can!
Inspired by Julia Pimsleur, I’d like to see one million women get to one
million dollars in sales for themselves.
But where’s the roadmap? And why does success sometimes feel so hard to
get a grasp on? My whole life—even as I was becoming a successful
entrepreneur—I dealt with a lot of fear, self-doubt, and near constant juggling
