A note about Manjaro and Arch
ManjaroisbasedonanotherdistributioncalledArchLinux. As
such,itisalsoabletodrawsoftwarepackagesfromthecommunity-
maintainedArchUserRepository(AUR).However,pleasenotethat
ManjaroisnotArch,andanyenquiriesabouttheManjarooperating
systemshouldbedirectedtowardstheManjaroforumsandInternet
RelayChat(IRC)channelsalone. Forexample,althoughUbuntuis
derivedfromDebian-andthereforesharessomesimilaritieswithits
parent-therearestillsubstantialdifferencesbetweentheseoperating
systemsandhowtheywork. SuchisthecasewithManjaro,which
isfarfromjustbeingan“easytoinstall”or“pre-configured”Arch
operatingsystem. Herearesomeofthekeydifferencesbetweenthe
ManjaroandArchoperatingsystems:
• ManjaroisdevelopedindependentlyfromArch,andbyacom-
pletelydifferentteam.
• Manjaroisdesignedtobeaccessibletonewcomers,whileArchis
aimedatexperiencedusers.
• Manjarodrawssoftwarefromitsownindependentrepositories.
Theserepositoriesalsocontainsoftwarepackagesnotprovidedby
Arch.
• Manjaroprovidesitsowndistribution-specifictoolssuchasthe
ManjaroHardwareDetection(MHWD)utility,andtheManjaro
SettingsManager(MSM).
• Manjarohasnumeroussubtledifferencesinhowitworkswhen
comparedtoArch.
Toreiterate,althoughManjaroisindeedanArch-derivative,itisnot
