Preface
In recent years, the application of composite materials has been increasing in vari-
ous areas of science and technology due to their unique properties, namely, for use
in aircraft, automotive, defense, aerospace, and other advanced industries. The
use of nanocomposites for different engineering applications has been increasing
day by day. Machining of composite/ nanocomposite materials is quite a complex
task due to its heterogeneity, and the reinforcements are highly abrasive. This book
covers the development of nanocomposite materials and a wide range of conven-
tional and nonconventional machining processes of various composite materials,
including polymer and m etallic-based composites and nanostructured composites.
The machining of polymer matrix composites/ nanocomposites is an indispensable
reference/ sourcebook for composite manufacturing process design, tool, and produc-
tion engineers. The book also focuses on intelligent and sustainable machining of
nanocomposites. It can also beneft fnal-year undergraduate and postgraduate stu-
dents as it provides comprehensive information on the machining of composite and
nanocomposite materials to produce h igh-quality fnal components. It can also serve
as a valuable reference work for academics, manufacturing and materials research-
ers, manufacturing and mechanical engineers, and professionals in composite tech-
nology and related industries.

Acknowledgments
The authors take this opportunity to thank Maulana Azad National Institute of
Technology, Bhopal, India, an Institute of National Importance, and Kalinga Institute
of Industrial Technology (KIIT), deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, India, an
Institution of Eminence’ (IoE) for their constant support, motivation, and encourage-
ment in accomplishing the current work. The authors are also thankful to the review-
ers, editorial advisory board members, development editor, and CRC Press staff for
their time and effort on this project. All of their efforts were crucial in producing this
book, and we could not have accomplished this milestone without their constant and
consistent advice, support, and collaboration, especially in this C OVID-19 pandemic
scenario. Finally, we wish to express our deep gratitude to our parents, who always
stood by us throughout our lives and guided us in the time of crisis. This project
could not be completed without our wives and children’s moral support, patience,
and encouragement. We express our gratitude to everyone who took the time to assist
us in preparing this book. Above all, we bow to the almighty, whose blessings and
knowledge have guided and assisted us not only in the course of this project but
throughout our lives.
