participate in our National Prayers for Universe Peace that will be conducted at the
sacred premises of the Sri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, Birmingham. These
prayers are being offered with the sole desire of seeking universal peace and

As a part of the day’s proceedings, temple priests along with our Sai devotees, young

Rudra Ekadashi) to glorify the Lord and seek His Grace. Devotees will also have an

It gives us great pleasure to personally invite you to attend a series of workshops on
Study Circles, Meditation and Bhajans over the coming months (please see schedule
enclosed below).

These Workshops are a direct result of feedback we have received from devotees
and in line with our commitment to refocus our Organisation’s efforts towards
better supporting our Devotees, Sai Centres, Groups and Regions.

There is no better sadhana or spiritual practice than thinking of the Lord. Bhajans,
Study Circles and Meditation are the main pillars of the activities at each Sai
Centre/Group as well as core foundation of the 9 Point Code of Conduct. The
National team have therefore designed these workshops with the aim of facilitating,
eBnhhaajannci nWgo arnkds shuopppso: rting these activities.

The Bhajan workshops are primarily aimed at improving our singing skills.
AtteMnrdiSnagt itshhe sKeu wmoarrkshops will help you better understand the guidelines of bhajan
singing as well as help improve your singing techniques. The workshops will be led
by , our National Bhajan Coordinator with the support of various
NMaetdioitnaatli aonnd W Roegrkiosnhaol psus:b ject matter experts.

The Meditation workshops will be of interest to any devotees wishing to improve
their mediDtart ioCnh utne cNhnaigqeunedsr aannd bettDerr Munadheersshta nNda rtahyea nmeditation techniques
prescribed by Bhagawan. The workshops will be led by experienced and seasoned
devotees: and with the support of

Visit of Mr & Mrs Naganand to United Kingdom
The Sathya Sai International Organisation - United Kingdom were
very honoured and privileged to have welcomed Mr S.S Naganand,
Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust & Mrs Madhuri Naganand,
Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Eashwaramma Women’s Welfare Trust.
During their stay they visited several Centres, Regions and attended
the National Easwaramma Day Celebrations.

Global Service Day 2018
We are pleased to announce this year’s Global Service Day Programme. Bhagawan’s Message for humanity, is
summed up in three words, “Love All, Serve All”. He lived this message and inspired all of humanity, to establish
kinship through selfless service.
This year we celebrate Global Service Day over the weekend of 14th and 15th July 2018. To mark this annual
celebration of selfless service we invite every devotee across the UK to participate whole heartedly in acts of service.
This would include, acts of service, on an individual, family, centre/group or regional basis.
Swami advises, “The act of service is not to be judged, according to the cost or publicity it entails; it may
be only the offering of a cup of water in the depth of a jungle. But the need of the recipient, the mood of
the person who offers—these decide whether the act is gold or lead. Fill every act of yours with love”.
With Swami’s Grace, we are confident that Global Service Day 2018, will be celebrated as a festival of “Love in
Action” across the UK. We are excited to launch our dedicated GSD webpage and invite all centres and groups to tell
us what you have planned for the weekend, and the contact details of the person leading the service project. We will
upload these details online so others in your local area can also join the work. After the activity please submit a short
write up of the work, to include what service was offered, how many people participated and how many people were
served. We would also love to have a few high-quality photos or short video clip of the activity. All this information
will be uploaded onto our GSD webpage so that we can share the joy that we all experience through service.

REFUGE UK ANNOUNCEMENT
For a number of years, the SSIOUK has been supporting the good work of Refuge UK. By Swami’s Grace, we have
the opportunity to expand the scope of our work with Refuge UK and we are delighted to share this news with our
brothers and sisters.
Refuge UK is a national charity providing specialist support for women, children and men experiencing domestic
violence. Refuge UK provides a national network of specialist services, including emergency refuge accommodation,
community outreach, independent domestic violence advocacy, culturally specific services and a team of child
support workers. Refuge UK also runs a Freephone 24-Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline in partnership with
Women’s Aid.
Currently, the charity is supporting 6339 women, men and children around the UK. Refuge UK operate approximately
50 sites that serve as refuges for the victims of domestic violence. Individuals and families are supported in these
refuges for 6 – 12 months whilst efforts are made to relocate them to safer areas. During their time, at a refuge, the
individuals are supported to acquire items of furniture, bedding and electrical goods that they can take with them to
make a fresh start. Refuge UK have welcomed the SSIOUK joining them in supporting individuals to acquire much
needed items.
Refuge UK have partnered with local authorities and other charities to provide many of the items needed to set up a
new home. The one item that charities are unable to provide at present, are microwave ovens. We have responded
to the need by offering to provide the families with the following items:
1. A new microwave oven
2. A new set of cooking pots
3. A new set of cooking utensils
As these items can prove challenging to store and deliver, we feel that the most practical way to provide them is by
providing the means for Refuge UK to purchase these items. As always, our offering towards this service project is
purely voluntary and is through the practice of Ceiling on Desires, as advised by Swami in the Nine Point Code of
Conduct.

provide the necessary details. Our team of service coordinators and young adults will shortly be visiting centres and
groups to deliver a presentation with details of this project and we will thereafter provide regular progress reports
and updates.

Sai Ganga -Aquacare Programme 2018
Inspired by the water projects inaugurated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and in response to the ever-increasing
challenges of global water scarcity, the SSIOUK launched our Sai Ganga -Aquacare Programme in 2016.
With Bhagawan’s Grace we have, in partnership with the Sathya Sai International Organisations of Nigeria and
Tanzania, provided access to safe drinking water in two African villages. Bore wells were installed in Sangatedo
Community, Lagos, Nigeria and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, each serving approximately a thousand people daily. Both
projects continue to be maintained and, managed by the SSIO of the respective countries.
We are delighted to announce that in 2018, we will be completing two more Aquacare projects.
Our first project, will shortly commence in partnership with the SSIO Sri Lanka. The Thirukkovil DS area, in Ampara
District of Sri Lanka is highly depending on agriculture, but faces the daily challenge of water scarcity. Approximately
100 families with benefit from the provision of safe drinking water.
The location of our second project is currently being confirmed by officials of the SSIO Africa and we look forward to
updating you in the very near future.
Aquacare projects are funded through voluntary offerings generated through the practice of Ceiling on Desires. If

Sai Bundles of Joy
We are delighted to share that since the launch of our Sai Bundles of Joy project, just over a year ago, participation
in this service programme has steadily increased. To date more than 300 “Bundles of Joy” and have been lovingly
offered to the mothers of new born babies at the General Hospital, Puttaparthi and during our Healthcare Camp in
Nepal.
We currently have a further 150 bundles ready for delivery to The General Hospital. If you are travelling to
Puttaparthi, and can assist by carrying a few bundles amongst your luggage, please inform your centre president
or service coordinator who will communicate this to the regional team.
The feedback from the General Hospital has been positive and we have been encouraged to maintain the high quality
of the garments being lovingly handmade, by devotees. We understand that the need at the General Hospital alone,
is in the region of 200 packs per month. With Bhagawan’s continued Grace, we pray that we will be able to increase
our offering. This year, we would like to offer 100 bundles from each region in the UK.
We have been humbled and overwhelmed by the loving efforts of devotees from all regions of the UK. Our elders
and SSE students alike, have contributed to the manufacture and packaging of our baby packs.
We would like to inform you of an important change we have made. We wish to avoid the use of the plastic bags
that we have been packaging the clothing in, and instead we will add a handmade cloth bag that can be re-used.
The patterns for the cloth carry bags are available from your regional service coordinators.
We are also aware that some regions have very lovingly made soft, stuffed toys for the babies. Whereas this is
a wonderful addition and we do not wish to discourage anyone from contributing to the project, we do want to
highlight that is can prove a challenge to pack these stuffed toys given the space constraints and our efforts to
increase the number of baby packs we will be offering. For now, we would humbly request that we focus our time
and attention on the packs that are very much in need.
To confirm, a single “Bundle of Joy” contains:
• 1 flannelette Carry Sheet
• 1 flannelette Hooded sheet
• 3 cotton baby dresses (unisex)
• 6 flannelette nappies (washable)
We look forward to the continued support of our Sai Bundles of Joy Project and the expansion of the project across
the UK.
