Preface
The Semantic Web is the next generation of the Web. It provides a common
framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enter-
prise,andcommunityboundaries.SemanticWebtechnologiesfacilitate building
a large-scale Web of machine-readable and machine-understandable knowledge,
and thus facilitate data reuse and integration so that the new generation of
the Web can provide better applications and services. Nowadays, many schol-
ars and experts are devoting themselves to applying the Semantic Web theories
in specific practice, while in turn improving the Semantic Web standards and
technologies according to the demand in practice. Web science involves the full
scope of Web-related research and applications, and it integrates Web-related
interdisciplinary researchinto a new field of scientific research. The jointly held
ChineseSemanticWebSymposiumandChineseWebScience Conferenceaimto
promote the expansion from the Semantic Web to Web science, and to discuss
the core technologies of the next-generation Web, such as the Web and swarm
intelligence, a new generation of semantic search, semantic and Web security,
and so on.
Following the success of the 6th Chinese Semantic Web Symposium and the
First Chinese Web Science Conference in Shenzhen, China, we organized the
7th Chinese Semantic Web Symposium and the Second Chinese Web Science
Conference (CSWS 2013) in Shanghai, China. The theme of CSWS 2013 was
“Linked Data and Knowledge Graph.” A summer school was organized before
the main conference. In the morning session of the summer school, two experts
in Linked Open Data, Dr. Victor de Boer and Dr. Knud Mo¨ller, gave lectures
on linked data principles and practice. In the afternoon session of the summer
school, experts from three well-known IT companies (Google, Baidu, Sougou)
introduced their work on the knowledge graph. Dr. Victor de Boer also gave
an invited talk at the main conference. The title of the talk was “Linked Data
for Digital Heritage and History.” The other two invited speakers were Dr. Hua
Wu from Baidu and Dr. Jeff Z. Pan from the University of Aberdeen. The title
of Dr. Hua Wu’s talk was “Internet-Based Semantic Analysis Technologies and
Applications”andthetitleofDr.JeffZ.Pan’stalkwas“HandlingDataVariety:
The Semantic Web Approach.”
This volume contains the papers presented at CSWS 2013. The conference
received48submissions.EachsubmissionwasassignedtoatleastthreeProgram
Committee (PC) members to review. After a rigorous reviewing process, 14 re-
searchpaperswereselectedforpublicationasfullpapersintheproceedings,five
research papers were selected for publication in the Journal of Southeast Uni-
versity (Chinese Edition), and seven papers were accepted as short papers. The
poster and demo track received five submissions, of which three were accepted.

These submissions cover a wide range of topics, including semantic search, on-
tology reasoning, social Semantic Web, knowledge graph, etc.
We would like to thank the excellent work of the PC. Each PC member
was assigned three to four papers to review and their timely and professional
reviewswerehelpfulforustoselectsubmissionswithhighquality.Wealsothank
everyone who was involvedin organizing the conference, especially Prof. Juanzi
Li, Prof. Zhiqiang Gao, Prof. Huajun Chen, Prof. Dongyan Zhao, Dr. Haofen
