Many people dream of doing what they love and loving what they do. I’ve learned that
you cannot achieve the dream alone, so I must acknowledge all of those who made it
possible for me. You know who you are: my friends, my fans, my followers—my family.
You have traveled this journey with me, and your letters, e-mails and involvement in
LIFE ON MAR’S have inspired me like nothing else. You have shown me the rewards of taking
the risk of believing in myself, and reinforced my belief that anything is possible when you
find the passion and commitment to follow your heart. I’m so grateful to have my MARtians!
I also have to thank the corporate environments I’ve been part of; they have allowed me to
dovetail this passion with career work, thus making it mutually productive. Thank you.
I dedicated my first book LIFE ON MAR’S: A Four Season Garden to the incredible
contribution of the unforgettable Edward R. Smith—my mentor, devoted friend, and
confidant who has forever changed my life. This book would also be incomplete without a
dedication to this wonderful man. Although many years have now passed since his death
in 2005, more than ever I continue to feel his essence in the work I do, and in the platform I
have created for my Casual Luxury brand. Rosebrook Gardens provides me the foundation
for my inner strength to bloom, and no matter how far I may travel I return home feeling
grateful and blessed, as everywhere I look there is something that transports me back to our
wonderful place in time together.
To Paul Darcy Mitchell, also my friend and confidant, who now continues to make me better,
both personally and professionally. His wonderful love and incredible family have extended
LIFE ON MAR’S to a whole new universe.
This book is dedicated to those who we love, and the power that comes from within
our hearts when we have loved, lost, yet love again. And to all those who are working to
acknowledge their journey, embrace their passion, and connect to their future.
