After due consideration to IMAsAKA'sspecies, the lectotypesare designated for

not clarifythestatusofA apicalis KONo, 1929.

Specimen 13 from Nikko IS A maJ'uscula NAKANE, 1994, and Specimen 14 from
Hitoyoshi ISA kinodai NAKANE, 1997. Specimen18wasdetermined as“A. viridis-
slma”, and the data were handwritten by LEWIS as “Type早, Yuyama”. In his
description, Yuyama is not mentioned, though it is located near Hitoyoshi. The
specimen isactuallyA kinodai. Accordingtothecollectingitinerary, LEWISvisited
HitoyoshiandYuyamaondifferentdays.
Inhisrevisionalstudy,MAsUMoTo (1987)regardedArthromacraspeciesfromthe
mainislandsofJapanasonespecies A decora(MARsEUL). IMAsAKA(2005)suggested
that A aplcalis could be asynonym of A viridisslma LEWIS, but left the problem
unsolved. TheauthorsexaminedthetypespecimenofA apicalisKONo,preserved in
theHokkaidoUniversityMuseum. Thespecimeniswhollyyellowishbrownincluding
antennaeand legs, with theapical halvesof theelytrabearingweakgolden greenish
luster. Presumably it is amale, but the abdominal partsare lost. Except for the
coloration, it resembles in the most of features A. vlridissima LEWIS distributed in
Nikko. Therefore,theauthorsherewithregardA apicalisKONoasajuniorsynonymof
A. viridissima LEWIS.
