About La higuera
La construcción en 1966 de un nuevo instituto de enseñanza media en Getxo desentierra la historia del hombre solitario que decidió recluirse en el solar y cuidar de una higuera al poco de acabar la guerra civil. Se trata de Rogelio Cerón, uno de los falangistas que fueron casa por casa para llevarse a fusilar contra las tapias del cementerio a varios de los hombres de Getxo. En una de sus visitas, Cerón se tropieza con la mirada de odio de un niño que se resiste a que le arrebaten a su padre, una mirada que despierta de inmediato en la imaginación del falangista la certeza de que ese niño, cuando crezca, lo matará. Su obsesión aumenta al día siguiente, cuando se encuentra con que los ejecutados han sido enterrados en una tumba sobre la que alguien ha plantado una higuera. Cerón ya no podrá ser el mismo. Vivirá pendiente de ese niño, intentará alejarlo de Getxo y tutelará sus estudios para evitar la maldición, el retorno insufrible del pasado y la culpa.
