PRESIDENT’S M ES S AGE
Welcome to the 2013 AAHABC Show Season. We are looking forward to our Annual Classic Region
17 Double Qualifier at Thunderbird Show Park, in Langley, May 9 to 12. Thank you for your generous
support in getting our classes sponsored. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the show. We
will be holding a ‘Dog Race’ on Friday evening May 10, near 6:30 pm and our halter classes will follow
the Dog Race. Bring your dogs and participate or come on out and watch.
The Region 17 Show Commission for the Championship Show visited TBird on April 5th. They are
looking forward to hosting the show in Langley. On April 6th, your AAHABC delegates, Brenda
Driediger, Nicki Muller and I attended the Regional Meeting held in Richmond, BC. This year, the
Regional Show will take place at Thunderbird, July 22 – 28th. For this year, Sport Horse In Hand will
be split by type (dressage and hunter type) and you may cross enter. Please have a look at the
Region 17 web site. There is a survey designed to find out what the Region 17 members want for their
Championship prizes in the future. Please participate and give your opinion.
There is a new facility being built in Calgary, the Western Event Centre at Stampede Park. The
completion date is July 2014 and it will be the new home of the Region 17 Championship Show in
2014.

Each year, we have teams registered in the AHA Regional Youth Team Tournament. This year the
Reserve Champion Team is AAHABC Team #1. Their Team Coach is Brenda Dreidiger. The teams
members are: Natalie Alves, Rebecca Alves, Cheyenne Cook, Sarah Burke, Cassie Bosworth, and
Mackenzie Lycan. Their recognition awards will be presented at the May Show. If you have a group
of youth that would like to register as a team for the 2013 Show Year, please have them registered by
May 1.
Because so many of our members will be participating in the 56th Annual Canadian Nationals
Show, in Brandon, Manitoba, August 12-17, AAHABC has agreed to sponsor a Canadian National
Championship Class plus five National Champion Garlands.
The AAHABC Year End Awards Banquet was held January 26th at the Rondezvous Greek Restaurant.
It was a very successful evening. A BIG thank you to the Banquet Committee. I believe it to be one
of the most successful banquets we’ve had. Mark your calendars for January 18, 2014 for next year’s
celebration at the Rondezvous.
