With Huzoor’s (aba) recent Peace Campaign in Britain, there is a call for Ahmadi Muslims to promote
Peace in words and deeds. As Muslims who have accepted the Messiah of the time, we have been
charged with the responsibility of spreading the peaceful message of Islam to the corners of the earth.
However, our mere verbal expression of the peaceful teachings of Islam will not change hearts unless it
is accompanied by our own practical expression of these teachings. Therefore, our personal campaign to
promote Peace must begin from within.
As we begin a new year, it is my prayer that may Allah enable all of us to assimilate & practice the
beautiful teachings of Islam, and make us the true harbingers of peace. May Allah accept our humble

Report from the Lajna Imaillah 2009 Majlis-e-Shura
Alhamdulillah, the Majlis-e-Shura 2009 was successfully held at Baitul Mahmood Mosque in Detroit,
MI from October 30th—November 1st, 2009. The Shura sessions began after Friday prayer with
formation of committees and concluded on Saturday with presentations by committees and silent
prayers. While the committees of delegates discussed the Shura proposals, Respected Sadr Sahiba held

Youth Activities in 2009
Masha Allah, 11 youth camps/activities were held in 2009 throughout the U.S. Regions
and local Majaalis worked hard to implement the National Camp Program and to create
bonding and involvement among local youth. Following are the events held:

(cid:209) Northeast Region Youth Camp (April) - Activities included: Humor workshop;
crafts; miniature golf; workshop on bridging the culture gap; film-“Muhammad-

(cid:209) Camp Unity-Detroit (May) - 24 youth and Nasirat attended. Activities included:
Sadr Sahiba’s meeting with youth; hygiene discussion; volunteering at local food bank; participation in walk-a
-thon for hunger; crafts; workshop on internet dangers; skits on truthfulness and sacrifice; power point and
workshop on choosing the right spouse; film; volleyball.

Workshop on modesty and peer pressure; hijabi fashion show; talent contest; field trip to an observatory;
workshop on the role of youth in the Jamaat.

9—Concern for the Provisions of Guests
Hazrat Promised Messiah had much greater regard for the nutritional needs of his guests rather than that of his own. He used
to inquire about the food preferences of so and so guests—and then their such and such eating habits as well.
He exercised such an enthusiastic apprehension towards the needs of Maulvi Mohammad Ali M.A. during the period of his
bachelorship that every morning he would arrange to send him milk, tea, biscuits, sweets, eggs, etc. under his own kind
supervision. He used to inquire from the delivery person if every guest had been attended properly, and nobody had been left
unfed, as well as to make sure that no negligence had been rendered by any guest house employee towards any of the guests.
A few times as it happened that there had remained no food for a guest, or the management had failed to save some for
someone, he would send his own curry plate or an entire meal to substitute the shortage.

10—Hazrat Masih-e-Maud’s Last Recommendation
A Perpetual Moment of Concern
Hazrat Dr. Hashmatullah Khan Sahib narrates: “One day after Zuhar and Asar Prayers, probably two days before his
demise, Huzoor had an audience in a room at the residence of Khwaja Kamaluddin Sahib (late). At that time there were some
15-20 persons in front of Huzoor whereas I had been in attendance as well”.
At that time, Huzoor made some statements and offered some advice. Among those to this day, I clearly remember the
following one. He said, “It is a moment of great concern for Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya. On one hand, hundreds of
thousands of people call them Kafirs (non-believers), but on the other hand if they do not even prove themselves to
be believers in the sight of Allah; this shall double the loss for them.” The Respected Doctor Sahib adds on saying: “As
far as I remember, it was Huzoor’s very last direction, which I had come about to listen to with my own ears.”

LA East Interfaith Event
On Sunday, November 21st, 2009, LA East Lajna hosted an Interfaith event at their Mosque. The theme was
"Festivals of Faith". Alhamdulillah it was a great success. Following are the highlights:

LA East Lajna have been very active in Tabligh. The local Lajna Sadr of LA East made a presentation in LA
County College to faculty members of various colleges. The presentation’s title was "Terrorism in the Name of
God". Many officials from LA Police and Administration of Justice Departments were able to attend and asked
several questions.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Lajna members who have contributed several articles for
publication in various newspapers over the last few months. Some of you wrote on Ramadan and Eidul Fitr
while others wrote on Eidul Adha and Hajj. Alhamdulillah Lajna USA is marching forward with the pen in
their hands to spread the true message of Islam. No doubt this is a daunting task but I am certain that we
can win the hearts of many through the beautiful message of Islam.
Many of the Majaalis have formed their local Media Watch teams. I hope that all Majaalis will have finalized
their teams by February.

Nasirat Matters
A Life Sketch of the Promised Messiah
Once the Promised Messiahas was sitting on the roof of the Mubarak Mosque, Qadian, awaiting the arrival of some
guests with whom he was to have a meal. One very poor Ahmadi friend, Mian Nizam Din Sahib of Ludhiana, wearing
ragged clothes, was also sitting there at a short distance. In the meantime, some well‐to‐do, respected guests arrived
and came and sat near the Promised Messiahas. To make room for each of them Mian
Nizam Din Sahib had to move further back and he did so until he reached the place where
shoes were kept. When the meal was brought, the Promised Messiahas who had observed
the whole scene, took a plate of food and addressing him said, 'Come, Mian Nizam Din you
and I will eat together inside,' meaning his chamber next to the mosque. At that Mian
Nizam Din Sahib's joy knew no bounds, and those who had sat near the Promised
Messiahas, pushing Mian Nizam Din Sahib farther away, were duly mortified.
The Promised Messiahas took care of his own children's up‐bringing through prayer and
through his own example. Once in the winter season, Mian Mahmud, who was then only a
child, put a piece of stone in the pocket of the waistcoat of Hazrat Mirza Sahibas so that
whenever he lay down on his side it poked into him. He mentioned to his servant that of
late he had been feeling some pain in his ribs. In an attempt to check this the servant
passed his hand over that area only to discover the brickbat and he took it out. The
Promised Messiahas smiled and said, 'Now I remember, Mahmud put this in my pocket and
asked me not to take it out for he would play with it later.' Hazrat Mirza Sahibas asked that
it should be left there for when Mahmud wished to claim it back.
I have often seen his own and other children sitting on the same couch with him,
compelling him to gradually move to the end of the couch, and reciting to him in their childish stories‐‐tales of frogs and
crows and sparrows. He listens to them with apparent delight as if they were reciting to him some lines from the mystic
poems of Maulana Rum.
