This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 60898-1 : 2002 'Electrical accessories
Circuit-breakers for overcurrent protection for household and similar installations: Part 1 Circuit
breakers for a.c. operation' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was
adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Low-Voltage Switchgear
and ControlgearSectional Committeeand approval ofthe Electrotechnical Division Council.
This standard isaconsolidated version of IEC 60898-1 :2002 incorporating Amendment Nos.1and 2
published in2002 and 2003 respectively.
This standard supersedes IS 8828 : 1996 'Electrical accessories - Circuit-breakers for overcurrent
protection for household and similar installations (second revision)'.Other part of the standard is as
follows:
