THE CAMPUSES:
All our 3 campuses are situated in modem buildings within the Central Business Districts [CBD] of Auckland,
Christchurch and Hastings. Abacus Institute aims to provide a friendly yet academically focused environment to assist
students achieve their career goals. The institute offers comfortable and spacious classrooms, student common rooms
and student kitchen facilities. Students really enjoy these modem educational facilities. Recreational facilities, fitness
centres, movie theatres, cafes and restaurants are all within a short distance from each campus. Although our students
have the opportunity to study in a serene and peaceful environment, their life is never limited to the four walls of
classroom and they can enjoy a variety of exciting outdoor activities and also experience life in these world-class cities.
THE LIBRARIES:
We hold a wide collection of books, which play a key role in the academic development of our students by catering for their
information requirements. Our close proximity to the city libraries is an advantage as this gives easy access to a world of

Maori history tells us that people first inhabited the Canterbury area about a thousand years ago. These first inhabitants were
moa-hunting tribes and the Waitaha, Ngati Mamoe and the Ngai Tahu tribes followed these tribes which continued until
1830. The first Europeans landed in Canterbury in 1815, 45 years after captain James Cook sighted what he named “Banks
Island”, later found to be a peninsula. Christchurch became a city by Royal Charter on July 31, 1856 and is officially the oldest
established city of New Zealand.
Described by Lonely Planet as a “vibrant city in transition, coping resiliently and creatively,” Christchurch’s energy is evident
wherever you go. The city has bounced back after the Canterbury Earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 with innovative new
attractions, as well as some old favourites.
Traditionally known as the Garden City, Christchurch’s award winning Botanic Gardens are over 150 years old and boast an
enviable collection of exotic and native plants.
