Введение
Цель пособия – формирование, совершенствование и развитие
умений и навыков устной английской речи. Отметим, что проделана
большая работа по поиску, отбору и анализу материала, которые
затем были методически обработаны как полезный учебный
материал в соответствии с уровнем владения английским языком.
«Interactive English» призвано помочь преподавателю в
подготовке и проведении занятий английского языка. В основе
учебно-методического пособия лежит идея о развитии
коммуникативных навыков обучающихся в связи с
социокультурным аспектом овладения иноязычной деятельностью.
Пособие включает в себя тщательно проработанный по
уровням владения языком и рекомендациям по применению
комплекс языковых материалов для обучения английскому языку,
которые обеспечивают развитие навыков и совершенствование
умений студентов в различных видах речевой деятельности,
овладение студентами необходимым объемом лексического запаса в
рамках изучаемой темы.
«Interactive English» может быть использовано как
дополнение к основным учебникам по предмету. Наряду с
типовыми заданиями и упражнениями преподаватель также
получает свободу в формировании собственных учебных заданий
по изучаемой теме.
Данное пособие предназначено как для аудиторных, так и для
внеаудиторных занятий студентов по программе курса
«Иностранный язык».

Unit 1. NAMES & PLACES
PLACES AROUND THE WORLD
Target Level: Elementary
Target English: the English names of the cities, countries of the world
and languages
Preparation: Map of the world
Procedure: Post a map of the world in the classroom. Ask students to
point out their home country or city on the map. Practice the English
names of the cities and countries of the world. Write the names of the
continents across the top of the board and elicit from students countries
located on each continent. Write the countries in list form under the
correct continent. When the lists are fairly full, practice pronunciation by
having the class repeat the countries out loud. What languages are
spoken in each country?

CRAZY QUESTIONS
Target Level: Elementary
Target English: Yes/No Questions
Procedure: Have students practice asking questions that will elicit
negative answers. For example:
• Are you from the Moon?
• Does Sakae come from Mexico?
• Does Pierre come from Japan?
• Is this lady’s name Max?
• Is the US president from Kenya?
• Is your husband’s name Johnny Depp?
• Is your wife’s name Pamela Anderson?
THE PASSPORT GAME
Target Level: Elementary
Target Language:
1) To practice "self-introductions"
2) To practice listening to questions and giving appropriate answers to
those questions
Procedure:
1) Students get a "passport sheet", and they fill out the information and
draw their rough self-portrait.
2) Students are divided in half and then asked one-by-one by the teacher
three questions: "What's your name?" "How old are you?" and "Where
are you from?"
3) If the student's responses are understood, they get one stamp.
4) The activity is over when the student collects four stamps.
Materials and Preparation:
Preparation: (about 30 minutes)

1) Teach students the expressions: “My name is X”. (name), "I'm Y."
(age), and “I'm from Z”. (nationality).
2) Have them practice each of these expressions with 5 conversation
partners (Teach names ⇒ practice, ages ⇒ practice, etc.)
3) Have the students practice listening to the aforementioned three
questions about their name, age and nationality.
Game Materials:
1) "The Passport Game" worksheet - 1/student
2) Two rubber stamps (any are fine - the cuter, the better) – 1/teacher

Target English: Yes/No Questions, Wh-questions
Procedure: Take objects, such as textbooks, and give them to each
student. Review possessive pronouns and have students work in groups
to practice the following:
What is that? - It’s a book.
Is it yours? Yes, it is. It’s my book.
Then have students exchange books, so that their answers become: No, it
isn’t. This is her book, not mine. No it isn’t. This is (name’s) book.

BUSINESS CARDS EXCHANGE
Target Level: Elementary
Target English: Encourage confidence in speaking English
Procedure: Students will create business cards and exchange them in the
context of free communication.
Materials and Preparation:
- Business card template (blank), 5 cards per student;
- A blank business card will be photocopied and provided to the students;
- Sample dialogue;
- The teacher will create a mock dialogue and perform it as an example
for the students.

GUESS THE ANSWER

Target English: Yes/No Questions
Preparation: Cards with short answers: Yes, I have; No, you don’t, Yes,
he can, No, it isn’t, etc. …
Distribute cards with answers among students. They shouldn’t show
them to others. S asks S , a question so that S gives the same answer as

Target Level: Elementary - Intermediate
Target English: physical description
Preparation: pictures of famous people
Procedure: Use pictures of famous people or have the students describe
themselves and their possessions: height, hair, and eye color, hair length,
clothes, jacket and location.
How tall are you? What color eyes does she/he have? What color
is her skirt? Where is he/she sitting/standing? (near the door, in the last
row, next to the piano)
