CAVIHEMIPTILOCERA, A NEW GENUS FOR MYELOISEXOLETA ZELLER
(LEPIDOPTERA: PYRALIDAE: PHYCITINAE)

ABSTRACT.Anewgenus, Cavihemiptilocera Neunzig, isproposedforMyeloisexoletaZeller, aspeciesoccurringinSouthAmerica. The
newgenusisdescribedandillustrationsareprovidedforthepreviouslyunknownmaleaswellasforthefemale.

Type species. -Myelois exoleta Zeller 1881
Diagnosis. Thebaseoftheshaftoftheantennahasa
row oflong, slender spines followed closely distallyby
clusters ofshort, slender spines (Fig. 2), the transtilla
bears posteriorly strongly developed, sinuous hooks
(Fig. 5), and the dorsum of each papilla analis has a
shallow, sclerotizedpocket (Fig. 7).
