THE LEADING MANUFACTURER OF QUALITY INDUSTRIAL CHAINS
SEDIS is an amalgamation of three companies and plants manufacturing chains independently from
around the turn of the century.
In 1994, SEDIS acquired two manufacturers of conveyor chains: ERGE and SEBIN and is conse
quently now a leader in EUROPE for all types of chains for industry: transmission, leaf, conveyor
and flat top.
The British subsidiary, SEDIS COMPANY LTD, was founded in 1971 and moved to new premises
in Northampton in 1993.
From the beginning, SEDIS has developed an international reputation for manufacturing high qua
lity chain products to suit a wide range of applications. As opposed to many of its competitors,
SEDIS manufactures in its two plants all the chains sold under SEDIS, ERGE or SEBIN brand names.
SEDIS is among a small number of manufacturers who produce both curled and solid roller chains
as standard. This gives design engineers a choice of specifications depending on the requirement.
SEDIS has a excellent track record for its investments in research and development which, for
example, led to the invention of the SEDIS Delta-Pin feature. The Delta-Pin is a bearing pin
specification giving greatly increased resistance to wear, especially in arduous and abrasive envi
ronments. Delta Pins have a surface hardness of more than 1800 Vickers compared with 800 Vickers
for case hardened pins. This process results in an increase of 3 to 4 times the working life of chains
incorporating standard carburised pins.
Rigorous inspection is carried out at all stages of manufacture, from raw materials through to final
products.
It has been this attention to detail which led to the achievement of SEDIS gaining full approval to
ISO 9001 in 1989, equivalent to BS 5750, part 1.
This accreditation was awarded for implementing the necessary quality assurance systems in de
sign, development, production, installation and after sale service.
