About Human Rights Action Plan Monitoring Report (2016-2017)
This document contains fi ndings of the monitoring regarding the implementation of the Governmental Human Rights Action Plan for 2016-2017 years, which concerns the rights of persons with disabilities, the rights of children, gender equality and the rights of women. This report is part of major research that is being carried out by several organizations to monitor human rights-related strategies and action plans. A unified report also includes monitoring of the issues such as, criminal justice; right to fair trial; Prosecutor’s Office; protection of human rights in the penitentiary system and fight against torture and ill – treatment; freedom of expression and assembly; the rights of religious minorities and LGBTI persons. This report has been shared with the governmental agencies, responsible for the implementation of the Action Plan for the expression of their points of view. The monitoring of Human Rights-related Strategies and Action Plans is supported by the USAID-funded East-West Management Institute’s (EWMI) Program “Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia” (PROLoG) and the “Open Society Georgia Foundation” (OSGF). In the framework of the project a unifi ed monitoring methodology was also developed aiming at facilitating of the monitoring of the similar action plans in the future.
