Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Special Forces: Operation Alpha Fan-Fiction world!
If you are new to this amazing world, in a nutshell the author wrote a story using one or more of my
characters in it. Sometimes that character has a major role in the story, and other times they are only
mentioned briefly. This is perfectly legal and allowable because they are going through Aces Press to
publish the story.
This book is entirely the work of the author who wrote it. While I might have assisted with
brainstorming and other ideas about which of my characters to use, I didn’t have any part in the
process or writing or editing the story.
I’m proud and excited that so many authors loved my characters enough that they wanted to write
them into their own story. Thank you for supporting them, and me!
READ ON!

ABOUT THE BOOK
After an unbearable tragedy, Navy SEAL Devlin Russo doesn’t do kids.
When he discovers that Madeline Roux, his hot as hell weekend hookup—and the only woman
who’s tickled his interest in years—has a daughter, he walks away. They’re better off without him.
Then he finds out Madeline’s ex took their kid into a cult, and Madeline joined to get her daughter out.
It’s been weeks now, and nobody has heard from her. Time to go in and get the pair out. He might not
do kids, but he will rescue them. After they’re safe—he’ll walk away. Again.
Madeline Roux is in one hell of a mess.
With her ex dead and her daughter under the perverted eye of the cult leader, the stakes are rising
fast. She needs to get Cassidy out of the compound before the cult leader acts on his obsession. Her
bad situation turns ugly when the cult up and moves to the Amazon Rainforest to avoid the FBI. Now
Madeline and Cassidy are stuck, thousands of miles from home, in the middle of the Amazon, with no
way to escape the armed cult.
Things start looking up when Devlin and his SEAL team infiltrate the Amazon compound in an
attempt to rescue them. At least until Amaru rebels attack the SEALs and storm the cult compound,
scattering everyone to the wind.
Cut off from his team, with Madeline and her kid depending on him, Devlin is forced to take them
on a harrowing journey through the wilds of the Amazon jungle. Keeping them safe from armed cult
members, the Amuru rebels, and Amazonian predators is one thing. Keeping them safe from his own
past is something else entirely.
No…Devlin doesn’t do kids…not anymore. But to keep Madeline’s alive, he’ll have to get
involved, up close and personal, and swallow the bitterest pill of all: regret.
Hero Under Fire Incorporates Susan Stoker’s characters: Tex, Rocco, Gumby and Ace.
Author’s Note
I’m a recent convert to Susan Stoker’s world of hot alpha heroes and smart heroines, but once I found her work, boy did I glom on. I
kind of wrecked my health with so many late nights of reading. LOL
Once I discovered her Operation Alpha fan fiction world, it was natural to gravitate in that direction. I’ll be forever indebted to Susan for
allowing me to work in her world and play with her characters from the author side of the computer screen.
I’ve really enjoyed my stint in Susan’s sandbox and fully intend to play in there some more.
Hero Under Fire incorporates Tex, Rocco, Gumby and Ace. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it!

“Fuck.” With a muffled groan, Devlin Russo rolled off the sweaty, soft body he’d just pounded into
the mattress. What the hell was his cock trying to do to him? Kill him? He was forty years old for
Christ’s sake. Too old for this shit. His lips twitched. Although…as deaths went, dying because of
sexual exhaustion wasn’t a bad way to go.
Madeline huffed out a breath, the muted sound full of satisfied amusement. “I believe we already
took care of that. Multiple times, I might add.”
The low hum of the air conditioner across the room accompanied their heavy breathing as they lay
side by side. The room smelled like air freshener and sex—an odd combination, but probably
standard for motel rooms.
Satisfaction swelled as he listened to her ragged breathing. There was no doubt she’d found her
release. All six times. He’d made sure of it. Made sure she was flying before letting himself go. But
then, it wasn’t hard pushing her up to the cliff and over the edge.
Hell, she was the most responsive lover he’d ever had. Open, without shields in bed. There was
something damn addictive about that, about the way she quivered at his touch, the way her flesh
heated and twitched beneath his lips, the way her head would arch back and her eyes would close,
like she was focused fiercely on what he was doing to her.
The woman was dynamite in bed.
Of course, he reacted just as explosively to her. Six times for fuck’s sakes, in 24 hours. Three
times alone in the last three or four. He couldn’t remember ever being so hungry for a woman. Not
even back in the horny days of his adolescence. Sure as hell not with Sharon. Pain threatened at the
thought of his ex—and everything they’d lost. But he didn’t let it grab hold of him. Didn’t let the
memories sweep him from the here and now.
Another first.
His reaction to Madeline in bed shouldn’t have surprised him. There’d been clues after all. Like
how she’d fractured his concentration as soon as he caught sight of her in that parking lot three days
ago. Even back then, when he should have been solely focused on keeping Tag alive long enough for
the EMTs to arrive, he’d been aware of her—of the way she’d filled out that red lacy bra she’d been
wearing while she’d used her shirt to staunch Tag’s bleeding. Of the subtle fresh scent drifting from
her. She’d smelled like rain after a long drought. Hell, the fact he’d even been able to smell her over
the metallic stench of fresh blood had stunned him.
“I’m thinking a shower and some dinner. It’s only eight. There must be some places in town that
will still deliver.” She paused a beat before adding casually, “You want to join me?”
“For the shower, or dinner?” His sweaty skin cooling beneath the chilly air of Madeline’s suite,
