Preface
Kevin Ashton coined the term Internet of Things (IoT) in the year 1999. IOT can
impact our daily lives by providing any service to anyone at any point in time. One
of the potential applications of IoT can be health informatics and healthcare. This
book provides a comprehensive description of the essential aspects of IoT and health
from beginner to advanced level perspectives. It describes the fundamentals of IoT
and healthcare wherein discussions are carried out for system architecture, protocols,
wearable devices, interoperability, and different applications of IoT in healthcare.
The impact of artificial intelligence and smart computing is provided for depicting
the enhancement of existing systems. Challenges and opportunities for the healthcare
industry are discussed for maximal societal benefits. With more and more advancement
and daily usage of IoT based healthcare devices, improvements and enhancements for
information security and security devices are required by adopting a security- focused
approach with increased transparency to the user. This book is compiled to address
maximal issues in IoT- based healthcare with some existing improved solutions.
