HCP Anywhere enforcement of TLS 1.2
Release3.0 of HCPAnywhereenhancessecuritybyenforcing Transport
SecurityLayer (TLS)version 1.2 connectionstotheHCPAnywherenodesby
default.TLS 1.2 ismoresecurethan TLS 1.0 and 1.1.

Control sharing privileges using profile settings
Administratorscan nowlimit sharing between different groupsin their
organization using profilesettings.Administratorscan prevent certain
profilesfrom sharing with oneanother,prevent profilesfrom sharing with
anyonebut thosein theprofile,or prevent profilesfrom sharing at all.

Administrator defined backup
In release3.0,HCPAnywhereboastsseveral enhancementstobackup and
datasecurity.Previously,HCPAnywhereuserscould backup filesand
folderslocated on their computersbut outsidetheir desktop application
folders.Thisoffered usersincreased datasecurity.Now,in addition touser
backup,administratorscan backup filesand foldersfor their usersby
specifying:
• Pathstobackup for their users.
• Filetypestobackup for their users.
• Filetypestobeignored during thebackup process.

Seamless integration with the HCP Anywhere platform
Release3.0 of HCPAnywherecontainsan enhanced FileSyncand Share
API.With theenhanced FileSyncand ShareAPI,administratorscan create
custom apps,integratethird-partyapps,and automatetasksusing scripts
and programs.TheFileSyncand Share API containseveryendpoint HCP
Anywhereusesin their own User Portal.For help using thisAPI,HCP
AnywhereoffersaJavasoftwaredeveloperskit (SDK)on theMaven Central
Repositoryand asampleprogram that usestheSDK on GitHub.
ToaccessGitHub,which containsinformation on all theFileSyncand Share
API resources,seehttps://github.com/Hitachi-Data-Systems/anywhere-

Mobilize NAS shares to HCP Anywhere using sAMAccountName
Administratorscan nowusethesAMAccountNametoadd their users'
personal NAS sharestoHCPAnywhere.Previously,administratorscould
onlydothiswith theUser PrincipleName.

Increased backup limits
TheHCPAnywheresystem nowallowsuserstobackup amaximum of
300,000 filesand foldersper computer.Previously,userscould backup a
maximum of 200,000 filesand foldersper computer.

Next generation Windows desktop application
Version 3.0 of theWindowsdesktop application can bedeployed and used in
both persistent and non-persistent virtual desktop infrastructure
environments.With thisnewfunctionality,administratorscan configure
desktop application propertiessuch assupport for roaming user profiles,
thenumber of usersthat can accessthedesktop application on asingle
Windowsterminal,and thesizeof thedesktop application cache.

Intelligent storage management for the desktop application
ThenewWindowsdesktop application givesuserscompletecontrol over
which filesin their desktop application foldersaresaved locallytotheir
computersand which remain remotelyin HCPAnywhere.Thisistheperfect
wayfor each user tomanagethespacetheir desktop application folder
occupieson their computer.

New desktop application folder
When registering thedesktop application,userscan nowchoosean existing
folder tobetheir desktop application folder.Thisautomaticallyaddsany
filesin that folder toHCPAnywhere.Userscan even select their entire
Documentsfolder.Prior torelease3.0,userscould onlyselect an empty
folder when registering thedesktop application.

Desktop app dashboard
Thedesktop application boastsanewdashboard.Thenewdashboard
containseach user'susage,synchronization,and backup information in one
central location.

Customized links from the desktop application
In release3.0,userscan createcompletelycustomized linksusing the
desktop application.Previously,userscould createquicklinksin their
desktop application folder,which had thedefault linksettingsconfigured by
theHCPAnywhereadministrator,but could not customizethelinksin any
way.

Links that never expire
With linksthat never expire,usersnolonger havetoworryabout renewing
theexpiration datefor their links.Previously,all linksremained activefor a
limited number of days.Linksthat never expirecan beenabled or disabled
in theHCPAnywhereManagement Console.

Dynamic group sharing
When usersinviteagroup toacollaborativefolder,HCPAnywherenow
managesthemembership of that group for them.When aperson isadded
toagroup in ActiveDirectory,that person isautomaticallyinvited totheall
thecollaborativefoldersin which thegroup isamember.Similarly,when a
person isdeleted from agroup in ActiveDirectory,that person is
automaticallyremoved from all thecollaborativefoldersin which thegroup
isamember.

Upgrade notes
You can upgradean HCPAnywheresystem torelease3.0 onlyfrom release
1.1 or later.Toupgradefrom areleaseearlier than 1.1,you first need to
upgradetorelease1.1.You cannot downgradeHCPAnywheretoaprevious
release.
Important: If,after an upgradetoversion 2.0 or 2.0.1,your usersare
unabletoregister 2.0.x applications,you need toresolvetheseregistration
failuresbeforeyou can upgradetoversion 3.0.Contact your HCPAnywhere
serviceprovider for help.
TheAW004_<version-number>.bin.zip fileisused for upgrading an HCP
Anywheresystem.
Before upgrading
Beforeupgrading,ensurethat all SSL server certificatesfor theHCP
Anywheresystem arevalid.If anycertificatesareinvalid,desktop and
mobileapplicationswill beunabletoconnect tothesystem.
If auser identified theHCPAnywheresystem byIPaddressor byonlythe
first part of thefullyqualified domain namewhen registering thedesktop
application,thedesktop application will beunabletoconnect toHCP
