Acknowledgements
There are many training drills used by defensive
shooting instructors, and they get passed around and
often modified as they make their way amongst the
community. Very few of them are attributable to a single
person or survive in their original form, but rather end up
belonging to the whole community. I’ve made an effort
to attribute specific drills to the people I thought
responsible, but even those drills which I concocted
myself are in fact compilations of ideas from others and
may go back years (if not decades).
Because of this “melting pot” of influences and ideas, I
think it appropriate to thank those who not only invented
drills but who have inspired in some way what you see
in this book. In no particular order, I’d like to recognize
and thank Georges Rahbani, Massad Ayoob, Rob Pincus,
Claude Werner, Paul Carlson, Greg Ellifritz, Marty
Hayes, Paul Gomez, Clyde Caceres, and Mike
Seeklander for their inspiration over the years. Even if
they didn't actually develop something in these pages,
they certainly exposed me to ideas and, in some way, at
some time, influenced how I look at defensive training.
They (and others I’ve no doubt forgotten to add) have
