Do You Want To Graduate College Early ?
The purpose of this book is to help students get a 4 year college
degree in the fastest amount of time, with as little cost as possible.
There are a number of different things a student can do to speed up
the time it takes them to get a degree, and it is never too early to start.
Although it has become normal for a 4 year degree to take 5 years
to complete, High school students, and even middle school students
can take actions that will cut semesters from the amount of time
they need to spend in college, making a 3 year college degree, or even
a 2.5 or 2 year college degree possible.
The High Cost of College
But why should you want to graduate college early? Isn’t college a
time to have fun, learn about yourself, hang out with cool people,
and also pick up some useful knowledge? Well yes, it is that, but it
is an expensive time. Most schools cost at least $12,000 a year in
tuition, plus another $12,000 in room and board costs. That is why
total student loan debt in the United States is now measured in the

trillions

and the average college student is graduating with tens of thousands
of dollars in debt, resulting in graduates with student loan payments
well into their 30’s, even for those who get good jobs.
Hacking the system, by getting a 4 year degree in 3 years or less
is a great way to cut your own personal costs, one that can easily
be combined with other strategies such as scholarships or student
work. Additionally, the time saved means that you will get a year
of your life back, and companies will pay you money for that year
instead of you paying your school.
And worst case scenario, if you graduate college in 3 years but are not
ready to leave your friends at the university, you could stick around
campus for another year without paying tuition and get the same
college experience, or you could stick around and get a graduate
degree,

My Story
Who am [to talk about optimizing your college career? Why should
you listen to me? And dol even know what I am talking about ?
I went to the University of Michigan and got my undergraduate
degree in 3 years in the, at least moderately challenging, field of
mechanical engineering. I then got a job engineering over the
summer and came back in the 4"" year to get my master’s degree in
mechanical engineering
While at college, I had time for a life in addition to just classes.. I
found time to work as a tutor and a homework checker, make money
playing online poker, start a successful (at the time) poker blog, work
out consistently, hang out with my friends, and start dating a girl I
would later get engaged to and marry.
Did I have to do everything right to do that and get a degree in 3
years? No. I made several mistakes which probably ate up a full
semester of time. I didn’t have a good guide on what to do, and so
I made mistakes both in High School and college that cost me time
and money. One mistake of mine in High School was not taking the
9/0f 97
AP calculus or AP physics exams since I was not in an AP calculus
or AP physics class, but was very good at the subjects. That mistake
cost me 12 credits I could have had entering college. Additionally,
since I ended up retaking courses the first year of college that I had
already taken in High School, I easily aced them which reinforced
poor study habits. My poor study habits bit me my second year and
it wasn’t until the third year that I started acing advanced material
that I had not previously covered.
In college, I made mistakes that cost me money. Since I was pushing
to graduate early, I upped my course load to 19 credits one semester,
which was one over a max course load. This mistake cost me
approximately $1500 in extra tuition.
Despite these problems, it was still a very successful college career,
especially compared to an average student who could take 5 years
to get the same undergraduate degree, and more time for graduate
work. Since graduating, I have pursued a successful career as an
engineer, but also focused on side hobbies of how to save money, and
how to learn better. This book brings both of those together, and I
hope it will help you save substantial time and money in college.
