It gives me great pleasure in writing the foreword for this excellent text
by Saran Shantikumar. Extended matching questions have become an
essential part of undergraduate medical examinations, not only for being
the fairest format available, but also for allowing a wider coverage of the
subject than other question types allow. I congratulate Saran for taking the
time and effort to write this book. This short volume covers the breadth of
surgery including all the commonly asked clinical scenarios. The themes
are well chosen, following careful thought, and the case histories provided
are excellent. The quality of this book is enhanced by the clear language
and the clarity of explanations provided in the answers.
Assessments are always important, but none are more signifi cant than the
fi nal examinations. The examination period is a time of enormous anxiety
and this work of Saran’s should go a long way in relieving the pressure
of studying for the surgery examinations. I am sure over the years Get
ahead! Surgery will become an indispensable revision aid for undergraduate
medical students preparing for their fi nals.

Description:Get ahead! is a brand new essential revision series for medical and surgical finals. Each title contains practice questions similar to those you can expect in the real exam. The series stands out in its use of subject summaries that include all the detail you would need from a larger textbook - but
