Awatertunnelflowvisualizationinvestigationwasperformedtostudythevortexdevelopmentandburstingphenomenaona2.3%scale
modelofaX-31A-Likefighteraircraft. Themainfocusofthisstudywastwo-fold:First,tostudytheeffectsofangleofattackandstatic
sidesliponthemodelvorticalflowfield. Secondly,tostudytheeffectsofdynamicsideslipmotionattworeducedyawrates. Resultsindicate
thatthewingrootvortexburstinglocationsmoveupstreamastheAOAincreases;andatconstantangleofattack(AOA < 30degrees)the
leewardsidevortexburstinglocationmovesbackwardandoutboardwithsideslipinputswhilethewindwardsidevortexburstinglocation
movesforwardandinboard. Thevortexasymmetryswitchessidesathigherangleofattack(AOA > 30degrees). Thedynamiclageffects,
whichcausetheleewardsidevortextoburstearlierthaninthestaticcaseduringthepositivesideslippingmotionand laterthaninthestatic
caseduringthenegativesiedslippingmotion,increasewiththemagnitudeofthesideslippingmotion.
