RÉSUMÉ
Cemanuscrit présente la synthèse de travaux de recherche en optimisation et simulation dont l’objectif
estledéveloppement d’outils logiciels flexibles etperformants. Lescontributions s’articulent autour de
troisgrandsdomaines:
(i)l’optimisationcombinatoire,aveclarésolutiondeproblèmesdesynchronisation dedocumentshyper-
médiaetd’optimisation deressources danslesnuagesinformatiques;
(ii) la simulation numérique, avec un schéma de couplage optimisation-simulation original pour la ré-
solution d’un problème de conception de tournées de bus dans un réseau de transport urbain, et une
méthodologie pour la minimisation de la vulnérabilité d’un écosystème prairial face aux changements
climatiques;
(iii)ledéveloppement logicielgénérique, avecdespatronsdeconception pourledéveloppement d’algo-
rithmes d’optimisation, etune bibliothèque pour étendre laprogrammation générique aux "concepts" et
permettreainsid’améliorer laqualitédescodesdecalcul.
Cettedémarchepluridisciplinaire s’explique parlacomplémentarité decesdomainespourrépondre aux
problématiques étudiées. Notamment, l’optimisation combinatoire permet l’élaboration d’algorithmes
trèsefficacespourrésoudre desproblèmes derecherche opérationnelle, maisens’appuyant surunemo-
délisation souvent tropsimpliste dusystèmeétudié. Lasimulation numérique, quipermetgénéralement
une représentation plus fine du système, peut être couplée au processus d’optimisation afin d’identifier
demeilleures solutions applicables.
Les systèmes étudiés peuvent aussi être très complexes et nécessiter des algorithmes d’optimisation et
des modèles de simulation très coûteux entemps de calcul. Ledéveloppement logiciel devient alors un
élémentcrucialoùlesméthodesusuellesdegénielogicielnesontpastoujourssuffisantespourrépondre
aux besoins de calcul intensif. Il semble alors pertinent d’étudier les possibilités offertes par la pro-
grammation générique et la métaprogrammation pour combiner, avec peu de compromis, flexibilité et
performance danslescodesdecalcul.

ABSTRACT
This manuscript presents the synthesis of research works in optimization and simulation with the aim
of developing flexible and performant software tools. The contributions are centered on three main
domains:
(i) combinatorial optimization, with the resolution of problems of hypermedia documents synchroniza-
tionandresources optimization incloudcomputing;
(ii) numerical simulation, with an original outline of optimization-simulation coupling for solving a
bus routing design problem in an urban transportation network, and a methodology to minimize the
vulnerability ofagrassland ecosystem facingclimatechanges;
(iii) generic software development, with design patterns for developing optimization algorithms, and a
librarytoextendgenericprogrammingto"concepts"andthustoallowimprovingthequalityofcomputer
codes.
This multidisciplinary approach is explained by the complementarity of these domains when tackling
the studied problems. Notably, combinatorial optimization allows designing very efficient algorithms
to solve operational research problems, but is based on ausually too simplistic modeling of the studied
system. Numerical simulation, which generally allows representing more precisely the system, can be
coupledwiththeoptimization processtoidentify betterapplicable solutions.
The studied systems can also be very complex and can need extremely time-consuming optimization
algorithms and simulation models. Software development becomes thereby a crucial element where
usualsoftware engineering methods arenotalwaysenough tomeethighperformance computing needs.
It seems thus relevant to study the possibilities offered by generic programming and metaprogramming
tocombine, withfewcompromises, flexibilityandperformance incomputer codes.
